After frustratingly falling a goal short in Dingwall on Saturday, Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the German second tier, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Darmstadt 98 vs SC Paderborn
🇩🇪 2. Bundesliga
⏰ Sunday 26 January, 12:30
Two clubs separated by only three points in the German 2. Bundesliga table meet at the Merck-Stadion am Bollenfalltor on Sunday lunchtime as 10th-placed Darmstadt entertain eighth-placed Paderborn in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Florian Kohfeldt’s hosts are the second-highest scorers in the German second tier, slamming in 38 goals across their opening 18 matches, with 17 (45%) of them coming on home soil.
Die Lilien have failed to score in just one of their previous 14 league outings – notching on multiple occasions in six of their past eight and nine of their last 13 – and will look to continue their impressive goal-scoring run of form against that’s kept just three clean sheets in the league this season, with all three (100%) coming against the current bottom three.
Lukas Kwasniok’s visitors have scored 30 goals across their opening 18 2. Bundesliga fixtures this campaign, with 15 (50%) of them coming on their travels.
Paderborn have failed to score in just three (17%) of their league outings – striking on multiple occasions in 10 (56%) of them – and will look to trouble a Darmstadt defence that’s recorded a solitary shutout in the league this season, shipping multiple goals in nine (50%) of them.
Bet of the Day
Darmstadt’s opening 18 2. Bundesliga fixtures this campaign have averaged a league-high 3.83 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in a league-best 15 (83%) of them – including in 13 of their past 14 – whilst 11 of their last 13 have produced a minimum of three goals.
Paderborn’s opening 18 fixtures in the 2. Bundesliga this campaign have averaged 3.11 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in 14 (78%) of them – including in 8/9 (89%) of them away from home – whilst 13 (76%) have produced three or more goals.
What’s more, Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals has paid out in the past three meetings between the pair – including a 3-1 victory for Paderborn in the reverse fixture in August – and I’m hoping we see a similar high-scoring encounter in this one.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
