Looking to return to winning ways following San Diego FC's late collapse against the Houston Dynamo on Sunday, Monday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Icelandic second tier, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Grindavik vs Keflavik
🇮🇸 1. deild
⏰ Monday 7 July, 20:15
Keflavik will look to climb into the Icelandic 1. deild playoff places on Monday night as they travel to the Grindavíkurvollur to take on entertaining Grindavik in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Haraldur Arni Hrodmarsson’s hosts have fired in 24 goals across their opening 10 matches in the Icelandic second tier this term, with 11 (46%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The Grindvikingar have found the back of the net in all 10 (100%) of their league outings this season – notching on multiple occasions in six of their past nine – and will look to get on the scoresheet once again against Keflavik defence that has yet to record a clean sheet across their opening four away matches in the league this campaign, shipping seven goals.
Keflavik have scored 19 goals across their opening 10 fixtures in the Icelandic second tier this campaign, with nine (47%) of them coming across their four road trips.
Haraldur Gudmundsson’s visitors have found the back of the net in all four of their away matches this term – striking on multiple occasions in two (50%) of them – and will be confident of breaching a Grindavik defence that has yet to register a clean sheet in the league this season, shipping a league-high 30 goals.
Bet of the Day
Grindavik’s opening 10 matches in the Icelandic 1. deild have averaged a staggering 5.40 goals per game, Over 3.5 Goals paying out in seven (70%) of them, including in 4/5 (80%) of their home matches (3-3, 3-4, 2-1, 2-4 & 1-5).
Keflavik’s opening 10 matches in the Icelandic second tier have averaged 3.30 goals per game, with Over 3.5 Goals paying out in five (50%) of them, including in 3/4 (75%) of their away fixtures (1-3, 2-4, 1-1 & 3-1).
What’s more, these two sides played out a 2-2 draw in the corresponding fixture last season – and given both teams' records at either ends of the pitch, I’m expecting a high-scoring encounter in south-west Iceland on Monday night.
- Over 3.5 Goals
- Pays 11/10 (PaddyPower/William Hill)
