Football Bet of the Day

After making it three consecutive winners in Korea on Wednesday, The Football Bet of the Day returns on Saturday and sees me head to the S, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Atlanta United vs Seattle Sounders

🇺🇸 MLS

⏰ Sunday 27 July, 00:30

Eastern Conference strugglers, Atlanta United, welcome fourth in the Western Conference, Seattle Sounders, to the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday night/ Sunday morning in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Ex-Celtic manager, Ronny Deila, has seen his side score 27 goals across their opening 23 MLS contests this term, with 21 (78%) of them coming at their Georgia base.

The Five Stripes have only failed to score in three of their opening 12 MLS encounters on home soil this campaign – notching on multiple occasions in each of their last four – and will look to continue their impressive goal-scoring form at home against a Sounders defence that has recorded a solitary shutout on their travels this season, shipping multiple goals in three of their last four.

Long-serving Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer has seen his side score 37 goals across their opening 23 clashes in the MLS this term, with 10 (27%) of them coming on their travels

The Sounders have failed to score in just two of their previous 16 fixtures in the MLS – notching on multiple occasions in each of their last three and five of their past seven – and will be confident of breaching an Atlanta defence that has kept just two clean sheets in the MLS this season, shipping 2+ goals in each of their previous four at home.

Bet of the Day

Atlanta’s opening 12 MLS matches on home soil this term have averaged 3.42 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in nine (75%) of them – including in eight of their last 10 – whilst seven (58%) have seen a minimum of three strikes, including their last four (4-2, 3-2, 2-2 & 2-3).

The Sounders’ opening 23 contests in the MLS this campaign have averaged 3.04 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 12 (52%) of them – including in five of their last seven across all venues (2-3, 3-0, 2-0, 1-1, 2-3, 3-3 & 3-2) and four of their past five road trips (1-3, 4-0, 1-1, 3-0 & 2-3) – whilst nine of their previous 14 have produced goals at both ends, including their last four.

Given the regularity Atlanta have been scoring at home recently and Seattle have been since returning from the Club World Cup – coupled with both sides' lack of clean sheets – I’m expecting another high-scorer at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

  • Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
  • Pays 10/11 (Skybet)
