Two clubs separated only by goal difference in the German 2. Bundesliga table meet at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion at Saturday lunchtime as 3rd-placed Kaiserslautern plays host to fifth-placed Karlsruher in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Markus Anfang’s hosts have slammed in 26 goals across their opening 14 2. Bundesliga contests this campaign, with 15 (58%) of them coming across their six home encounters.
Die roten Teufel have scored 2+ goals in all six (100%) of their league outings on home soil – even striking 3+ in three (50%) of them – and will look to add to their impressive goal-tally at home against a Karlsruher backline that has registered just three clean sheets in the 2. Bundesliga this season, shipping multiple goals in seven of their past nine.
Christian Eichner’s visitors are the joint third-highest scorers in the German second tier, slamming in 27 goals across their opening 14 contests, 13 (48%) of them coming on their travels.
KSC have made the net bulge in each of their past 12 and all bar one of their opening 14 2. Bundesliga fixtures – notching on multiple occasions in eight (57%) of them – and will look to continue their goal-scoring streak against a Kaiserslautern backline that has shipped 2+ goals in 5/6 (83%) of their league contests on home soil.

Since the beginning of last season, Die roten Teufel have seen Over 2.5 Goals remarkably payout in 21/23 (91%) of their league outings on home soil, with Both Teams to Score also landing in an impressive 19 (83%) of them.
Karlsruher’s opening 14 contests in the German second tier have averaged an eye-catching 3.71 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 10 (71%) of them, whilst a joint league-high 11 (79%) have featured goals at both ends – including in eight of their last nine – and I’m anticipating a high-scoring encounter between these two in Southwest Germany on Saturday lunchtime.
