Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me return back to the MLS, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ New England Revolution vs Orlando City SC
🇺🇸 MLS
⏰ Sunday 20 July, 00:30
Orlando City will look to strengthen their position in the Eastern Conference playoff places as they travel to the Gillette Stadium to take on 11th-placed New England Revolution in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Caleb Porter’s hosts have scored 29 goals across their opening 22 MLS matches this term, with 10 (34%) of them coming at home.
After failing to score in each of their opening three MLS contests this season, The Revs have found the back of the net in 14 of their next 18 – notching on multiple occasions in nine (50%) of them – and will look to breach an Orlando defence that has kept a single clean sheet from their previous eight MLS outings, shipping 2+ goals in six (75%) of them.
Oscar Pareja’s team has fired in 43 goals across their opening 23 encounters in the MLS this season, with 17 (40%) of them coming in their travels.
The Lions have failed to score in just four of their MLS matches this campaign – finding the back of the net in each of their past 12 – and will be confident of extending that run against a Revs backline that has kept just two clean sheets across their last 10 contests in the MLS, shipping 20 goals.
Bet of the Day
I successfully backed inter Miami to score two or more goals in the New England Revolution’s last home match, and I’ve come back with another goals-based angle here.
The Revs last 12 MLS encounters have averaged an eye-catching 3.58 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in eight (67%) of them – including in five of their last six – with five of their previous six also seeing goals at both ends (2-3, 3-3, 2-1, 1-2, 0-0 & 5-3).
Orlando’s opening 23 MLS contests this campaign have averaged 3.13 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 16 (70%) of them – including in nine of their last 12 – whilst seven of their last eight and nine of their past 12 have seen goals at both ends.
What’s more, this fixture has a history for goals, with the 21 MLS meetings between the pair averaging a whopping 4.14 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in a remarkable 19 (90%) of them, whilst 16 (76%) have featured goals at both ends – including a thrilling 3-3 draw in the reverse fixture in May.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 10/11 (Bet365/William Hill)
