Looking to build on Tuesday’s late winner in Swindon, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me delve into the goal-laden German second division, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the matches.
⚽️ SV Elversberg vs Karlsruher SC
🇩🇪 2. Bundesliga
⏰ Friday 31 January, 17:30
Two clubs separated by a solitary point in the German 2. Bundesliga table meet at the Waldstadion an der Kaiserlinde on Friday night as ninth-placed Elversberg plays host to eighth-placed Karlsruher in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Horst Steffen’s hosts have scored 33 goals across their opening 19 matches in the German 2. Bundesliga this term, with 21 (64%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
Elversberg have found the back of the net in all 10 (100%) of their league outings on home soil – notching on multiple occasions in six (60%) of them – and will look to continue their impressive goal-scoring record at home against a Karlsruher defence that has recorded just three clean sheets in the league this season, shipping 2+ goals in 11 of their last 14 matches.
Christian Eichner’s visitors are the third-highest scorers in the German second tier this campaign, slamming in 37 goals across their opening 19 matches, with 17 (46%) of them coming on their travels.
After failing to score on MD2 away at Fortuna Dusseldorf, KSC have made the net bulge in each of their next 17 league contests – striking on multiple occasions in 10 (59%) of them – and will look to add to their impressive goal-tally against an Elversberg defence that has kept just two clean sheets at home this season and none in their last six, shipping multiple goals in four of their past six and 6/10 (60%) overall.
Bet of the Day
Elversberg’s opening 10 2. Bundesliga contests in front of their supporters this campaign have averaged an eye-watering 4.20 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in nine (90%) of them, whilst eight (80%) have produced goals at both ends – including each of their past six.
Karlsruher’s opening 19 contests in the German second tier this term have averaged a league-high 3.78 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 15 (79%) of them, whilst a league-best 16 (84%) have featured goals at both ends, including in 13 of their last 14.
These two sides played out a five-goal thriller in the reverse fixture back in August, and I’m happy to back another high-scoring encounter with both sides finding the target.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 17/20 (William Hill)
