Looking to bounce back from the double disappointment in the MLS on Thursday, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Icelandic second tier, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs separated only by four points in the Icelandic 1. deild table meet at the Stakkavíkurvollur tomorrow evening as entertaining Grindavik hosts improving Selfoss in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Haraldur Arni Hrodmarsson’s hosts have fired in 28 goals across their opening 12 matches in the Icelandic second tier this term, with 12 (43%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The Grindvikingar have found the back of the net in all 12 (100%) of their league outings this season – notching on multiple occasions in seven of their past 11 – and will look to get on the scoresheet once again against a Selfoss defence that has recorded a solitary clean sheet in the league this campaign, shipping multiple goals in nine of their past 11.
Bjarni Johannsson’s visitors have scored 13 goals across their opening 12 matches in the 1. deild this term, with seven (54%) of them coming across their last three encounters.
The Selfyssingar have found the back of the net in five of their last seven league outings – notching on multiple occasions in each of their previous three and four of their past six – and will look to continue their recent improvement in front of goal against a Grindavik defence that has yet to register a clean sheet in the league this season, shipping a league-high 36 goals.

I successfully backed goals in Grindavik’s last home match 11 days before, and I see no reason to change my approach here.

Over 3.5 Goals has landed in five of Selfoss’s last eight matches in the Icelandic second tier, and whilst they have been shipping goals all season long, they have started to score them, with their previous three fixtures finishing 2-2, 3-2 & 3-1.
