After somehow seeing our winning run end at three in Freiburg on Sunday, Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on MD2 of the Champions League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

Two clubs who suffered contrasting fortunes on MD1 meet at the Metropolitano on Tuesday night as Atletico Madrid plays host to Eintracht Frankfurt in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Diego Simeone’s hosts have scored 17 goals across their opening eight matches in all competitions this season, with 11 (65%) coming on home soil.
Los Colchoneros have made the net bulge in each of those eight encounters this term – notching on multiple occasions in four of their past five – and will be expected to breach a Frankfurt backline that is yet to register a clean sheet in any of their five Bundesliga and Champions League contests this term, shipping 14 goals.
Dino Toppmoller’s visitors have fired in an incredible 22 goals across their opening six Bundesliga and Champions League fixtures this season, with five of those coming in their 5-1 thrashing of Galatasaray in their Champions League opener a fortnight ago.
Die Adler have found the back of the net in each of those six encounters – remarkably scoring 3+ in five (83%) of them – and will look to continue their scintillating form in front of goal against an Atleti defence that has kept just one clean sheet this season and just two in their previous 11 Champions League contests.

Since the beginning of last season, Atlético’s 11 Champions League contests have averaged an eye-catching 3.73 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score banking in eight (73%) of them, whilst 10 (91%) have featured a minimum of three goals (2-1, 0-4, 1-3, 2-1, 6-0, 3-1, 2-1, 4-1, 1-2, 1-0 & 2-3).
What’s more, 7/8 (88%) of Atleti’s La Liga and Champions League encounters this season have produced goals at both ends, with three of their last four also seeing Over 2.5 Goals land.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s opening six Bundesliga and Champions League fixtures this season have averaged a whopping 6.00 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in all six (100%) of them (4-1, 3-1, 1-3, 5-1, 3-4 & 6-4).
Despite their reputation over the years, Atletico’s matches have proven to be more open this season – and given the wild nature of Frankfurt’s – I’m fully expecting a high-scoring encounter in the Spanish capital on Tuesday night.
