After returning to winnings ways and making it eight winners from the previous nine at Ayr last night, Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me move up a division and focus on the Edinburgh Derby.
⚽️ Hearts vs Hibernian
🏴 Premiership
⏰ Wednesday 28th February, 19:45
It’s Derby Day in Edinburgh on Wednesday night as 3rd-placed Hearts play host to 7th-placed Hibs and come up with a bet builder that has already landed in both previous Edinburgh derbies this season.
Hearts saw their 10-match unbeaten run in the Scottish Premiership emphatically ended at the weekend, as they were thrashed 5-0 by the league leaders at Ibrox. Nevertheless, The Jam Tarts have been strong at home in the last few months, with them having won seven of their previous 11 (W7-D2-L2) – with both defeats in that run coming against either side of the Old Firm – and will look to continue that strong record against their poor-travelling rivals.
Nick Montgomery’s men finally put a halt to their eight-match winless run in the Scottish Premiership, as they scored a late winner to defeat 6th-placed Dundee 2-1 to move just two points behind the Dens Park club. The Hibees also won by the same scoreline at Dundee in November, but that was just one of two away wins in the Premiership since the start of September (W2-D5-L3), with the other coming at bottom side Livingston.
Steven Naismith’s hosts have scored 35 goals across their opening 27 Scottish Premiership matches this term, with 18 (51%) of them coming on home soil. Only league leaders Rangers have prevented Hearts from scoring in their last 11 league outings at their Gorgie base – with The Jambos scoring on multiple occasions in seven (64%) of them, including each of their previous five – and I fully expect them to find the target once more against a Hibs defence who have recorded a solitary shutout across their last 10 road trips in the Premiership, with that coming against bottom-side Livingston.
Bet of the Day
After backing the hosts to find the target, the second part of the bet builder is for there to be a minimum of three cards in the match, with both sides collecting one. This selection has landed in 48/53 (91%) of the pair’s combined Scottish Premiership contests this season, including in both previous Edinburgh derbies this campaign.
Finally, I’m happy to throw in the hosts to earn a minimum of five corners. The Jambos have hit 5+ corners in 12/13 (92%) of their Premiership matches on home soil – only failing to do so against Celtic last October – whilst The Hibees have conceded five or more corners in 9/12 (75%) of their league encounters on their travels this season.
- Hearts to Score Over 0.5 Goals, Both Teams Over 0.5 Cards, Over 2.5 Cards & Hearts Over 4.5 Corners
- Pays 39/40 (BetVictor Bet Builder)
