After a quiet start to the week, my Football Bet of the Day returns on Thursday and sees me head to the Irish top flight, and I’ve highlighted one fixture in particular that I expect to be a low-scorer.

Dundalk will look to move off the foot of the Irish Premier Division table as they welcome poor-travelling St Patrick’s to Oriel Park in a fixture that I’m keen to oppose goals in.
Ex-Rangers Striker Jon Daly has seen his side score the fewest goals in the Irish Premier Division, scoring just 19 goals across their opening 28 matches, with only eight (42%) of them coming on home soil.
The Railwaymen have failed to score in 15/28 (54%) of their league outings – including in 10/14 (71%) of them in front of their supporters – and may find it difficult to breach a St Pat’s defence that’s conceded just 11 goals across their previous 10 road trips in the Irish top flight, recording three clean sheets.
Stephen Kenny’s visitors have scored 32 goals across their opening 28 matches in the Irish top flight this term, with a league-low nine (28%) of them coming on their travels.
The Saints have failed to score in six of their previous 10 road trips in the league and face a Dundalk defence that has conceded just seven goals across their last 12 Irish Premier Division contests on home soil, recording eight clean sheets.

Dundalk’s opening 28 fixtures in the Irish top flight are averaging just 2.06 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score, No paying out in 18 (64%) of them.
What’s more, that goals average drops to just 1.57 goals per game when playing at home, with both teams failing to score in 13/14 (93%) of them – and given Both Teams to Score, No has also landed in six of St Patrick’s previous 10 league outings on their travels – I’m hoping we see a similarly low-scoring affair to the goalless draw these two sides played out when they last faced off at this venue in April.
