Following a surprise lack of goals in Norway on Sunday, Monday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me take my first trip to this year’s Copa America, and there’s one side I’m keen to get on side.

One of the pre-tournament favourites, Colombia, begins their Copa America on Monday night as they take on Paraguay in Houston – and I’ve come up with a way to get the Colombians onside.
Colombia heads into the tournament in great form, with Néstor Lorenzo’s men unbeaten in just over two years, a run stretching 23 matches.
What’s more, the 2001 Copa America winners are on an eight-match winning run, including a memorable comeback 2-1 victory against Brazil in World Cup qualification, followed by a 0-1 victory against Paraguay in Asunción, leaving them in a strong position.
La Tricolor currently occupy third position in the CONMEBOL table after collecting 12 points from their opening six qualifiers (W3-D3-L0), five points ahead of 6th-placed Brazil.
Two-time Copa America winners enter their campaign after putting an end to their four-match winless run as they defeated Panama 0-1 in a pre-tournament friendly.
Daniel Garnero’s men have had a tough start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, as they’ve won just one and drawn two of their opening six qualifiers (W1-D2-L3), with all five points coming against Chile (8th), Bolivia (9th) and Peru (10th).
A lack of goals has been a feature of Paraguay’s World Cup qualifiers, with La Albirroja‘s six WCQs averaging just 0.67 goals per game (GF 1, GA 3).
Bet of the Day
As already alluded to, Colombia head to The States on an incredible 23-match unbeaten run, with 18 of those resulting in victories, including each of their previous eight.
What’s more, 13 of those victories featured fewer than five goals, including a 0-1 victory over Paraguay in World Cup qualification last November – and given Paraguay’s lack of goals in their matches – I’m happy to have a punt on the La Tricolour to pick up all three points in a match featuring under five strikes.
