Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the MLS, and I’ve highlighted one fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Two clubs separated only by three points in the Eastern Conference table meet at Soldier Field in the early hours of Sunday morning as 14th-placed Chicago Fire plays host to 11th-placed DC United in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Frank Klopas’s hosts have scored 33 goals across their opening 27 matches in MLS this term, with 16 (48%) of them coming on home soil.
The Fire have found the back of the net in 19/27 (70%) of their MLS outings – including in 12 of their previous 14 – and will look to trouble a DC defence that has recorded only two shutouts in the league this season, with only CF Montréal (58) and San Jose Earthquakes (63%) conceding more than the 55 they have shipped.
Troy Lesesne’s visitors have scored 41 goals across their opening 27 matches in the MLS this campaign, with 18 (44%) of them coming on their travels.
The Black and Red Eagles have made the net bulge in 21/27 (78%) of their league outings – notching on multiple occasions in six of their last seven – and will look to continue their impressive goal-scoring run of form against a Chicago backline that has recorded only four shutouts in MLS this term, with just two of those coming at Soldier Field.

DC United’s opening 27 MLS fixtures this campaign are averaging an eye-catching 3.56 goals, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in 18 (67%) of them, including in nine of their last 12 – and given the same has landed in eight of The Fire’s previous 11 MLS contests – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three strikes with both of these sides contributing in a match both sides will target all three points.
