Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into both the Swiss Super League and the Swiss Challenge League and I’ve a game from each league to give us a solid looking double.
Thun vs Schaffhausen
🇨🇭 Challenge League
⏰ Tuesday 10th May, 18:30
Schaffhausen will look to regain top-spot in the Swiss Challenge League, as they travel to the Stockhorn Arena to take on Thun. The visitors dropped down to third following Aarau win and Winterthur’s draw on Monday, whilst the hosts are fifth, nine points off their upcoming opponents.
Thun suffered late heartache last time out, as they conceded a 94th minute equaliser to draw 2-2 away to promotion-chasing Winterthur on Friday evening. Carlos Bernegger side have been strong at home in recent months, with them having won each of their last four, scoring 10 goals in the process. In fact, Thun have only failed to score once at home all season, scoring 32 goals in their 16 fixtures on home turf. Thun have kept just seven clean in their 33 league matches this season and come into this having conceded in 11 of their last 13 at home.
Schaffhausen made it seven wins from their last nine fixtures last time out, as they comfortably dispatched of bottom side Kriens 4-1 last Friday night. FCS are now unbeaten in each of their last five matches on their travels, winning three of them. Schaffhausen have found the back of the net in 28/33 of their Challenge League fixtures this season and only Winterthur (68) have scored more than their tally of 66 in the Swiss second-tier. As well as conceding in nine of their last 11 fixtures in the league, Martin Andermatt’s side have recorded just four clean sheets away from home all season, with half of them coming against rock-bottom Kriens.
Young Boys vs St. Gallen
🇨🇭 Super League
⏰ Tuesday 10th May, 19:30
St. Gallen will look to go within three points of the European places, as they travel to the Wankdorf Stadium to take on Young Boys. The hosts currently occupy the final European spot and come into the match six points above their visiting opponents.
Young Boys saw their two-match winning run come to an end last time out, as they lost 3-1 away to fourth-placed Lugano, despite taking the lead. Those two wins prior to that defeat at Lugano is actually YB’s only two victories in their last 10 Super League matches (W2-D4-L4). Matteo Vanetta’s side have recorded just five clean sheets in the league this season, failing to keep one in each of their last 14 in the Swiss top-flight. Only newly-crowned champions Zürich (73) have scored more goals than Young Boys this season (71), with The Boys from Bern finding the back of the net in 29/33 of their league fixtures this season, including each of their last 15 in the Swiss capital.
St. Gallen suffered just their second defeat in their last 15 matches last time out, as they lost 1-2 at home to newly-crowned champions Zürich. After losing seven of their opening nine league fixtures away from home (W2-D0-L9), Espen have won five of their last seven on their travels, losing just once (W5-D1-L1). St. Gallen have found the back of the net in 29/33 of their league fixtures this season, scoring in each of their last 17 in the Swiss top-flight. Peter Zeidler’s side have kept just seven clean sheets so far in the league this season, conceding 56 goals to date.
Bet of the Day
Schaffhausen know they can retain top-spot in the Swiss Challenge League with all three points but face a tough test against a Thun side who’ve won each of their last four on home turf. The hosts have found the back of the net in 15/16 and there’s every chance they’ll net against a Schaffhausen side that’s conceded in nine of their last 11 fixtures. The visitors have scored in 28/33 of their matches this season and are the league’s second-highest scorers, therefore, we should see both teams get on the scoresheet at the Stockhorn Arena.
St. Gallen lost for just the second time in their last 15 Super League fixtures last time out but will fancy their chances against a Young Boys side that’s won just two of their last 10. Peter Zeidler’s visitors have scored in each of their last 17 in the league and should net against a Young Boys side that’s failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last 14 matches. The Boys from Bern are the leagues second-highest scorers though and have found the back of the net in each of their last 15 at the Wankdorf Stadium, therefore, we should also see both sides get on the scoresheet in the Swiss capital.
