Monday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the match in League 2 and I like the look of goals at both ends.
Colchester United vs Forest Green Rovers
🏴 League 2
⏰ Monday 21st March, 19:45
Forest Green will look to extend their lead at the top of the League 2 table, as they travel to Essex to take on Colchester. The visitors are currently five points clear of 2nd-placed Exeter, whilst the hosts are 20th and nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Colchester saw their four-match unbeaten run come to an end last time out, as they lost 1-0 away to in-form Bristol Rovers. Colchester’s 1-0 win over Port Vale in their last home match was their first at home since the end of November, however, they’ve lost just one of their last seven at the Colchester Community Stadium, drawing the other five. Wayne Brown’s side have found the back of the net in 12 of their last 14 in the league, as well as in 13 of their last 14 at home. The U’s have conceded in 30/37 of their League 2 fixtures this season, with just two of their seven clean sheets coming on home turf.
Forest Green’s winless run was extended to seven matches last time out, as they drew 1-1 at home to Struggling Leyton Orient. Rob Edwards side have struggled on their travels in the last few months, with them winning just one of their previous eight (W1-D6-L1). Forest Green have found the back in 29/36 of their League 2 matches this season and are the divisions top-scorers, finding the back of the net on 65 occasions. In fact, Rovers have scored in all bar one of their 18 away fixtures this season, scoring 37 goals. Forest Green have failed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last eight league tussles, as well as conceding in 11 of their last 12 on their travels.
Bet of the Day
Forest Green may be five points clear at the top of League 2 but come into this without a win in their last seven and face a Colchester side that’s lost just one of their last five. In fact, the U’s have lost just two of their last nine at home, whilst the visitors have won just one of their last eight away. Both of these sides regularly find the back of the net, with Colchester scoring in 13 of their last 14 at home, whilst Rovers have scored in all bar one of their 18 away fixtures. Colchester have struggled to keep clean sheets at home this season, keeping just two, whilst the league leaders have struggled for clean sheets in recent months, failing to keep one in their last eight, as well as conceding in 11 of their last 12 away from home. Given both sides recent form and their records at both ends of the pitch, there’s a good chance we’ll see both net in Essex on Monday evening.
