Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Scottish Championship and there’s one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals at both ends.
Dundee vs Queen’s Park
🏴 Championship
⏰ Saturday 3rd September, 15:00
Queen’s Park will look to continue their impressive run of form, as they travel to Dens Park to take on title favourites Dundee on Saturday afternoon.
Despite taking the lead after four minutes, Dundee suffered their second defeat of the season last time out, as they lost 3-1 away at surprise league leaders Ayr United. Gary Bowyer’s side have taken seven points from their opening five league matches, leaving them in fifth position, four points off Ayr United at the top of the table. The Dark Blues have found the back of the net in 9/10 of their league and cup fixtures this season, scoring 24 times – with a third of those coming in the league. Only second-bottom Cove Rangers (9) have conceded more goals in the Scottish Championship than Dundee (8), with five of those coming in their two home matches.
Queen’s Park made it three wins on the bounce last time out, as they defeated Cove Rangers 2-1 at home. Owen Coyle’s newly-promoted side have taken 10 points from their opening five league matches this season, putting them one point above their upcoming opponents and just two off Ayr United at the top. The Spiders have found the back of the net in all nine of the league and cup fixtures this season, scoring 21 times – with ten of those coming in the league. Queen’s Park are also yet to record a single clean sheet in any of those nine competitive matches this season.
Bet of the Day
After failing to win any of their last two in the league, Dundee will look to return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon but face a tough task against an in-form Queen’s Park side. The Spiders travel to Dens Park having one each of their last three matches and currently sit a point above their opponents in the Championship table.
Owen Coyle’s visitors have found the back of the net in all nine of their league and cup matches this season, scoring on multiple occasions in each of their last four in the league, and they’ll be confident of breaching a Dundee defence that’s already conceded eight times in the league this season. Gary Bowyer’s hosts have netted in 9/10 of their league and cup matches and with them at home, I expect them also to make the net bulge against a Queen’s Park side yet to keep a single clean sheet this season.
