Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me delve into the Italian second-tier and there’s a match that I like the look of for goals at both ends at a good looking price.
Brescia vs Ascoli
🇮🇹 Serie B
⏰ Wednesday 23rd February, 17:30
Two sides in the hunt for promotion to Serie A meet at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti, as Brescia host Ascoli. The hosts come into this fourth, just two points behind leaders Lecce, whilst the visitors are in seventh, five points behind their opponents.
Brescia twice came from behind last time out to earn a draw at home to fellow promotion-hopefuls Frosinone. That result means the Biancazzurri are now unbeaten in each of their last eight in the league, with them drawing four of their last five. Brescia have found the back of the net in 20/24 of their league matches so far and are the leagues joint-third highest scorers, finding the back of the net on 37 occasions. Filippo Inzaghi’s side have managed to keep nine clean sheets this season but only two of those have come at home. Seven of those clean sheets have came against bottom half sides, with Brescia conceding in 8/10 against top-half sides.
Ascoli come into this off the back of successive victories, as they comfortably defeated lowly US Alessandria 3-0 at home last time out. Andrea Sottil’s side have the second-best away record in Serie B and come into this winning five of their last six on their travels. Ascoli have found the back of the net in 19/24 of their league matches so far and are the leagues highest scoring away side, scoring 23 goals in their 12 away matches. The Woodpeckers have kept just six clean sheets in the league this season, with five of those coming against sides in the bottom-half, conceding in 10/11 against top-half sides.
Bet of the Day
Both Brescia and Ascoli are currently positioned in the playoffs and come into this fixture in decent form. The hosts are currently on a eight-match unbeaten run, whilst the visitors have won four of their last six. Both sides regularly get on the scoresheet, finding the back of the net in 39/48 of their combined matches and are two of the leagues highest scoring sides, scoring 37 and 35 goals respectively. Both have kept 15 clean sheets between them this season, however, majority of them have came against the lesser sides in Serie B, with just three of them coming in their 21 fixtures against top-half sides. The reverse fixture finished 2-3 and given both sides records in-front of goal and their lack of clean sheets against the leagues better sides, I’m happy to back both sides to score, at what is a rather attractive looking price.
