Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Following on from Wednesday’s winner in Holland, Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the first leg of promotion/relegation playoff in Germany, and I’ve come up with a bet builder.

⚽️ VfL Bochum vs Fortuna Düsseldorf

🇩🇪 Bundesliga Promotion/Relegation Playoffs

⏰ Thursday 23rd May, 19:30

Bochum play host to Fortuna Düsseldorf at the Ruhrstadion in the first leg of their Bundesliga promotion/relegation playoff tomorrow evening in a fixture that appeals to me for both goals and cards.

Heiko Butscher’s hosts scored 42 goals across their 34 matches in the Bundesliga this term, with 26 (62%) of those coming on home soil.

Die Blauen found the back of the net in 16/17 (94%) of their league encounters on home turf this season – only failing to score in their previous home fixture against record-breaking champions Bayer Leverkusen – and will look to find the target once again on home soil against a Düsseldorf defence that has kept just three clean sheets across their previous 15 road trips in the German second tier, with two (67%) of those coming against the bottom-three.

Fortuna Düsseldorf were the leading scorers in the German second-tier this campaign, slamming in 72 goals across their opening 34 matches, with an eye-catching 40 (56%) of them coming on their travels.

Daniel Thioune’s visitors have found the back of the net in each of their previous 18 2. Bundesliga contests – striking on multiple occasions in 13 (72%) of them – and will look to continue their impressive goal-scoring run against a Bochum backline that’s registered just four clean sheets in the Bundesliga this season, with only rock-bottom Darmstadt (86) conceding more than the 74 they have let in.

Bet of the Day

Bochum’s 17 Bundesliga fixtures in front of their supporters this campaign averaged 3.24 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in 14/17 (82%) of them – and given the same has landed in eight of Fortuna Düsseldorf’s previous 10 road trips in the 2. Bundesliga – I’m happy to have a punt on both of these sides finding the target in North Rhine-Westphalia tomorrow night.

To nudge the price up, I’m happy to throw in both sides to pick up a card. This selection has banked in all 17 (100%) of Bochum’s Bundesliga contests on home soil this season, whilst the same landed in 15/17 (88%) of Fortuna Düsseldorf’s 2. Bundesliga encounters on their travels.
