JOHNB has a joint nap and NB lined up for Sunday as he looks to get back among the winners.

It was a 3pt loss on Saturday so February is now an 8.23pt profit.

  2. the notorious 3 years ago

I have been informed that VP has been paid £300,000 by Betfair on her quest to the Foxhunters Chase at Cheltenham.
Its one thing been incompetent in the saddle (for the short time she manages to stay) but I am making people aware that VP, been a paid rider should not be allowed to compete.
The rules are there for all to see for those who bother look.
Its disgusting behavior from the BHA to have such double standards, while many other talented non paid amateurs are forced to watch this charade unfold before them.

    GL all.

  6. craig2t 3 years ago

The notorious, everyone can see that some people have a bee in ther bonnet about VP, but to be honest I don’t think many people give it a second thought now on this forum, Johnb has expressed his opinions quite a few times but it’s still popping up regularly. I think we need to just let time run its course and see what happens at Cheltenham. Someone will be proved wrong. Well done to the lads today and yesterday, unfortunately working. Missed a few of my favourite tipsters big winners and a few new guys on thread. Done Duncans little fella and Johnb nap/Nb. Will be looking for lucky 15 tomorrow with Busstop, Boz, the bz, amazing Frankel, de Niro, and of course alanm. (And biggee if he gets any info. ) GL guys.

    • the notorious 3 years ago

The only people who will be proved wrong is the BHA, for allowing VP to compete in this race, which, technically 99.9% of any other paid amateurs would not be eligible to do.
The payment she received to try and be a jockey for a handful of races is repulsive.

      • craig2t 3 years ago

I agree, but let’s just move on. I don’t think it’s possible to change anything so unfortunately nothing we can do about it. Let’s just see what happens at Cheltenham and see if it worth debating again.

  7. double carpet 3 years ago

In my current form its probably not wise for me to go against johnb but at least my footie bets are getting me out of jail at the moment. Anyway at 14/1 ACCORDING TO TREV 3.40 southwell looks a decent ew bet to me.
Hes 2 from 2 over C&D and is just 1lb above his last win mark. Has been running in class 2 and drops to class 3 and trainer has a 40% strike rate at the track.
Now if he doesnt make the frame i think ill take a rest till cheltenham

    Best of luck to all

  8. biggee 3 years ago

@ craig2t 3.10 Southwell Amber Gambler @7/1 bog horse has been set up for this race tomorrow and a good run is expected. Fav looks good and the one to bear I guess so again bet sensibly and let’s hope we get a run for our money.

Cool biggee, ime on. Especially after landing a few quid on Frampton tonight!! Just hope my beloved reds kick ass at Wembley tomorrow. I don’t know why but got a feeling millner will score! Not sure for which side though!!! haha

Really like lil rockerfeller at ascot today.. This horse is as tough as they come, and his third to rock the kasbah reads really well… Alan kings grumeti could be the danger though especially with the drying ground, let’s hope lil runs his race… This is the time we need to be slowing down and betting really realiable horses, hopefully banking a pot for the relentless Cheltenham festival that’s only a few week away.. i don’t really care if people just follow tips or put stuff on ere that they have read at the end off the day we are all after the same goal and any bit ov knowledge is useful..

Johnb,I suspect because of the VP thing a lot of us will be taking a bit more interest in the Foxhunters than normally ,if you have time have you any thoughts on Mr Mercurial who won a good ptp yesterday and is being backed ? .Stable has won the race before with Cappa Blue
    Thanks GL.

    • Johnb 3 years ago

I haven’t seen the race yet but he is up against a lot better horses at Cheltenham and really should be out of his depth, I know the yard won with Cappa Bleu but Cappa was a far better horse, Mr Mercurial has been a good horse for connections and has won at Cheltenham, it’s the foxhunters so anything can happen but he isn’t for me

      • duncanpoundcake 3 years ago

Duncan I like the fix hunters cause it’s usually a good race to find the winner . The hunter chase at leopardstown run end of January beginning of feb is usually a good pointer past winners salsify on the fringe and Tammys hill have all run in this race . Unfortunately this years winner suffered an injury past the post and had to be put down . Horse that interests me at present is paint the clouds who had an easy win during the week .

Trainer Alan Hill described Victoria Pendleton’s clear round on Supreme Danehill in the novice riders’ race at Horseheath point-to-point in Cambridgeshire as a “good day at the office”.

Supreme Danehill finished seventh after a good exhibition of jumping despite not being suited by the track conditions.

“The ground was a bit quick for him. She had a very good ride,” said Hill.
“He’s quite a one-paced horse and she had to ride him with a fair bit of strength and that was very much a great help today.

“He was running on well at the end and we are very pleased.

“It was another good day at the office. She’s had another hard ride and got stuck in. Her ride was equal to anyone else who has ridden that horse.

“She got the horse jumping well. That’s the best he’s ever jumped. There were a lot of positives.

“We are now getting plenty of rides into her and that’s the aim. We want to get more experience and race time on the track.”

The dual Olympic gold medal-winning cyclist will be back in action on According To Sarah at Larkhill at Wiltshire on Sunday.

Her next experience under her Rules is set to be on Pacha Du Polder in a hunter chase at Wincanton on Wednesday.

She was unseated from the Paul Nicholls-trained nine-year-old on her much-anticipated hunter chase debut at Fakenham earlier this month, but still hopes to ride the horse in the St James’s Place Foxhunter Chase at Cheltenham next month.

Paddy Brennan at Ayr for 1 ride ,trainer 1 runner Oscar Blue 3.15 13/2 GL.

  30. Johnb 3 years ago

    Bravo Zolo

Easily the class horse of the race, Bravo Zolo will relish the step up in distance and although he goes on any surface he does excel on the Tapeta.
Third at Lingfield last time out but was ridden poorly for that track and on Monday we have a better jockey onboard,
He also ran keenly last time so the third place was a pretty good result as he also crossed the line with plenty to spare,
Only real danger is if the horse doesn’t turn up as this race looks pretty straight forward for him, Our Channel to follow him home in second place

  31. dougiec 3 years ago

Gary Moore at Plumpton first one Ive looked at 11/2 Graasten .2.00 Excellent record with juveniles.

  32. townie 3 years ago

No new thread so I’ll get it up here instead:

    New week new approach.

I’ve always liked maidens and I’m going to stick to these from now on. I can’t pick a winner in a handicap for toffee.

    So here goes:

    Wolves 2.50 cee Jay 2/1

I think this is a strong pick. Was 11/4 when I backed it and tried to post but no thread for ages.

Noseda is 2/2 with 3yo at Wolves in 2015 and the kyllachy sire isn’t bad round these turns so I fancy it to do the business. The drop the 5f should be in its favour as well.

    Plumpton 2.00 mahlers star 9/4

Drift doesn’t worry me too much and I think it’s last run was solid so I’ll take these odds.

Last maiden at Wolves looks trappy and I’m not convinced about the Fav in this but I’ll wait and look into it a little more.

    GL all

jamie and on the bob, apologies – I’d forgot to add a racing tag to today’s post so it wasn’t showing up under racing tips. However, it’s been available on the home page since it was put up last night so if ever it doesn’t appear under racing tips, it’s worth checking the home page too. Sorted now anyway, ta.
