SERIE A isn't always famed for goals but Wednesday night's fixtures could throw up a stack.
After Tuesday's near miss when Wolves denied us a fivefold I'm focusing my efforts on the Italian league where there are several games that are traditionally high scoring.
Take Inter Milan v Palermo for example. It was 4-3 Palermo when the sides met earlier in the season and the last five meetings at the San Siro have produced 27 goals with both scoring in the last five.
Inter haven't netted in their last two, both away, but hit two in each of their previous two at home. Palermo's only two goals away from home came in their last but one outing at Novara.
However, they have banged in seven in their last two and traditionally play well away to Inter.
Add another Italian game, Cagliari v Roma. Cagliari haven't hit the net in two games but turn on the burners when Roma hit Sicily.
They have scored nine in their last three home meetings with the capital side and both have scored in the last five. Roma are in decent form with 13 goals in their last six.
Moving away from Italy and it's off to sunny Spain for Valencia v Barcelona in the first leg of the Spanish Cup semi-final.
It was 2-2 when the sides met at the Mestalla on league duty earlier this season and Valencia have scored in five of their last six outings.
Barcelona will be frustrated after being held 0-0 at Villarreal at the weekend but that was a rare scoreline and there should be goals this time.
To complete the fivefold I'm taking two matches from the Premier League. First up it's Sunderland v Norwich from the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland have improved immensely under Martin O'Neill and are unbeaten at home. Norwich have won their last three away games 2-1 so both teams should score.
Finish with Blackburn v Newcastle with Rovers still to keep a clean sheet this season.
Blackburn's last seven have featured both teams scoring and there have been 11 goals in the last three meetings, with both sides on target.
Newcastle will still be without African Nations Cup pair Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse but you'd still expect them to net at least once.
Inter v Palermo
Cagliari v Roma
Valencia v Barcelona
Sunderland v Norwich
Blackburn v Newcastle

What do you think about Leicester – Boro BTS Paul?
Matthew, pretty sure Leicester will win so obviously they have to score. Boro certainly have goals in them but their last two away games have been a 3-1 defeat at Coventry and 3-0 at Blackpool so they have gone off the boil. Maybe the 1-1 draw at Sunderland in the FA Cup will have restored confidence. They have strengthened by signing striker Jukiewicz from Coventry and on their day will make it tough for any Championship defence. I’d say more chance of btts than not.
wolves were big let downs, shame cos the bet looked great for most of the night.
Steven, I was quietly confident all night but Wolves couldn’t get one. I see on the highlights Ebanks-Blake smashed one off the inside of the post late on with Reina well beaten. That’s how close we were.
Really thought the BTTS bet was going land last night, but as you say Wolves couldn`t oblige. Good luck for today’s selections.
I`m also going to try all of the matches you mention in the BTTS bet, but as over 1.5 total goals in each game. Much shorter odds appreciated, but at decimal odds (best price) of 3.77 with Boylesports, it could be worth a few quid.
All the best,
Jez
Jez, it’s amazing the number of times I’ve been beaten for btts by a 3-0, like last night, so it’s definitely worth a go.
Paul is that amount right for the five-fold? It’s about £70 more than any other site I’ve checked!!
John, shame about the odds but 20-1’s still a good turn. Three up at HT and just need goals from Blackburn and Norwich. Having said that Norwich look second best by a long way at Sunderland.
John, time to put my hands up. Have checked the fivefold again and it pays about £150 with unibet, £200 plus at Ladbrokes. When I worked it out earlier I’ve read it as 3-3 instead of 3-5 and that’s where the difference is so sorry. So I’ll be off to practice my handwriting.
Looks like my over 1.5 goals bet on your BTTS selections got the job done….happy days.
I`m certainly going to try this again.
Regards,
Jez
Jez, once again I was let down by a 3-0 and then a side (Blackburn) who missed a penalty. Looked so good at half-time as well.
