Fantasy Premier League tips

In this article, we have provided our Fantasy Premier League tips & predictions ahead of Gameweek 14 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

Gameweek 14 oversees the first round of midweek fixtures in the Premier League in the 2024/25 campaign, and with a short turnaround from the weekend, FPL managers will need to make choices over the likes of potential transfers and who to captain quickly. Here are our latest FPL tips that should hopefully help make all of those informed decisions…

Our Fantasy Premier League tips

FPL gives out points based on player performances, which can be both positive and negative. It can range from a player scoring a goal (positions are given more points than others, for example a defender will gain six points for scoring a goal as opposed to four for a forward) or being shown a yellow card (-1pt), as well as many other metrics.

Who to have as FPL captain

In Gameweek 14, if you own him, Cole Palmer seems like an obvious captain choice, with Chelsea heading to Southampton. The Saints are bottom of the league, and Palmer comes off the back of a goal and an assist in Chelsea's 3-0 win against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge over the weekend.

However, for those FPL managers who do not own Palmer or want to pick a cheaper differential captain, Mohamed Salah could also be a viable option despite Liverpool facing a potentially tricky trip to Newcastle United, with the Egyptian having now netted in his last six games in the Premier League.

Should the triple-captain chip be used?

Assuming that Palmer is the most viable captain choice in Gameweek 14, using the triple-captain chip on him could seem a smart choice given that Chelsea are playing lowly Southampton off the back of some good form, and Palmer himself getting two goal contributions in his last match.

However, we would advise, if it has not been used already, to use the chip in a double gameweek, where teams play more than one fixture and therefore give more of a chance of a big points haul for the captain.

Who is likely to get booked?

Rayan Ait-Nouri has been a popular transfer in for FPL managers recently, given Wolves' relatively kind set of fixtures on paper, and the Wanderers face a timid Everton side next up who have not scored a single goal in the Premier League since October. However, the marauding left-back is currently on four yellow cards, and just one more would see him serve a one-game suspension.

Market-best odds on Rayan Ait-Nouri to be booked: 7/2

Which defender is most likely to score?

Gabriel Magalhaes has found the back of the net with a header after meeting a corner kick in Arsenal's last two matches over all competitions. The Brazil international is the joint-highest scoring defender in the Premier League so far in the 2024/25 campaign with three goals in total, and could well add to his tally once again when Ruben Amorim's Manchester United visit the Emirates Stadium.

Market-best odds on Gabriel Magalhaes to score anytime: 15/2

Our top three cheap in-form players

Justin Kluivert

Our first cheap in-form player pick is hat-trick hero from the last round of fixtures is Justin Kluivert, with the midfielder priced at an affordable £5.3m in FPL. Incidentally, all three of his goals were from the penalty spot, and the Dutchman will be hoping for more when Tottenham Hotspur visit the Vitality Stadium in midweek.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

With two goals in his previous two games, Aaron Wan-Bissaka is having a purple patch, and at just £4.5m, he could be a differential worth making the gamble on in FPL. Struggling Leicester City await West Ham United next, and with very few defenders being entirely convincing in and around his price tag, Wan-Bissaka could even be a long-term hold with the Hammers' kind fixtures on paper coming up.

Joao Pedro

Although he blanked in the last gameweek against Southampton, Joao Pedro is still a smart buy for FPL teams. He is the first-choice penalty taker for a good Brighton and Hove Albion side, and priced at just £5.8m, the forward could prove to be a real bargain over the next few gameweeks.
