Expert football pools betting tips

The English football season may have only just begun, but we are already on the brink of the first international break of the campaign, making this a big weekend for a lot of teams in the country, particularly those who are yet to win a game.

As ever, with our football pools tips, we aren't looking for these potential winners. Instead we're looking for the matches that are most likely to finish level, to accumulate as many points as possible using the scoring system below:

  • Score draw: 3 points
  • No-score draw (0-0): 2 points
  • Home or away win: 1 point

Check out this weekend's football pools betting tips below.

Man Utd vs Burnley (Premier League)

There is huge pressure on Ruben Amorim and his Man Utd player this weekend, as they look to recover from Wednesday night's debacle at Grimsby. Unfortunately for the former Sporting boss, the stats don't support a Man Utd win – they have won just one of their last 11 Premier League matches and have picked up 28 points from his 29 matches in charge.

The idea of Burnley winning at Old Trafford is far from out of the question, but the draw is also a good bet. The Clarets have held Man Utd to a draw in two of their last three Premier League meetings.

Wolves vs Everton (Premier League)

Another Portuguese manager who is under pressure to pick up a win this weekend is Wolves' Vitor Pereira. His Wolves side have failed to win either of their Premier League matches this season, failing to score a goal in the process.

One thing that should help them at the weekend is Everton's poor away form. The Toffees ended last season with more draws than any other team in the Premier League, and are due another one this weekend.

Liverpool vs Arsenal (Premier League)

The biggest match of the weekend is Liverpool vs Arsenal on Sunday. The match sees the two title favourites go head-to-head at Anfield, and the Gunners will fancy their chances of taking something from the match.

Mikel Arteta has an excellent recent record in matches against other members of the ‘big 6'. Since April 2023, the Gunners haven't lost any of their 22 matches against these teams, but nine of these have been draws. What's more, both of the matches between Arsenal and Liverpool last season finished 2-2.

Stoke City vs West Brom (Championship)

Stoke City have been the surprise package in the Championship so far this season, winning all three of their matches but they face a tough test this weekend against a West Brom side that are only two points behind them.

The Baggies were famed for drawing matches last season, with a whopping 19 from 46 matches played. They have already experienced a draw this season, too, and both teams would likely accept a point from this one if offered ahead of the international break.

Bristol City vs Hull City (Championship)

Bristol City are leading the way in terms of draws in the Championship this season, with two coming in their first three matches. Hull City have already drawn one match, too, and would be more than happy with a point from a tough visit to Ashton Gate.
