IT was another interesting day on the racing thread and well done to everyone who posted winners.

For the second day running Johnb's advice rather than tips paid off and plenty were on Outlander at a big price after he highlighted it.

Our man is 50.4pts up for December and hoping to add to that tally on Thursday.

Southwell 11.45
Fern Owl 4-1 NAP bet365

Affair 12-1 NB skybet

Double 64-1 skybet

Fern Owl

Makes his debut on fibresand but watching his races I feel he will be suited to the surface. Hughie Morrison has an all-time 24% of winners here, 91 from 382 runners but between winners and placed horses his record is over 50% strike rate. In the last 12 months it’s 1 win and 2 placed from 4 runners.

Another horse making his fibresand debut but like Fern Owl he is trained by Hughie Morrison and is pretty shrewd on the horses he takes there. The jockey is yet to have a winner but looks half decent from what I have seen.

Antepost Tips

  • 1000 Guineas 2017 – PROMISE TO BE TRUE 20-1 Betfred (now 25-1)
  • 2000 Guineas 2017 – CHURCHILL 20-1 bet365 (now 6-4)
  • 2017 Derby – CHURCHILL 33-1 Racebets (now 7-1)
  • 2000 Guineas 2017 – BLUE POINT 14-1 racebets (now 33-1)

Johnb says: “I have already advised Churchill for next year's 2000 Guineas & Derby – he has been really impressive this season and my view is he will get even better next year.

“Blue Point on the other hand is harder to call for how he will progress next year. If he trains on then in my view it’s a straight fight between Blue Point & Churchill but in the Derby Churchill is the only horse for me – he gives me the same excitement as Golden Horn did.

“But to answer my question earlier the most impressive horse I have seen this year is BLUE POINT with Churchill and Annie Power a close second and third.”

Had a good day out today, been to see this lad and was quietly impressed and there is potential

    Sex: Gelding
    Age: 3
Date of Birth: 12 May 2013
    Colour: Bay
    Sire: Acclamation (GB)
    Dam: Grand Slam Maria (FR)
    Dam Sire: Anabaa (USA)

Strong and athletic gelding, a full-brother to the classy King Of Jazz
This gorgeous-looking rising four-year-old gelding is from the excellent family of Royal Applause, and looks tailor-made to develop into a top-class individual on the Flat or over jumps.
He is by Acclamation, a sire of sires with the likes of Dark Angel and Equiano representing him at stud. Very much a dual-purpose sire, in 2015 he was the leading sire by winners and has produced 84 Stakes performers so far.
Not only this, at the sales this year his yearlings have averaged a staggering £85,000, with one of his highest going for €600,000 at Goffs in September.
The gelding’s dam, Grand Slam Maria, has produced some talented individuals including his full-brother King Of Jazz. A classy type, he was rated 101 on the Flat competing in some of the most valuable handicaps in the calendar, before racing over hurdles towards the end of his career.
He is also closely related to six-time winner Fibonacci, who was also placed in a Listed race in France for trainer Derek Meredith.
His half brother, Chaucers Tale, by Poets Voice was placed 2nd in a maiden at Newcastle on only his third start as a 2yo.
A scopey individual with a fantastic temperament, this well-bred gelding could just prove a steal at this asking price. Related to high-class performers, he has all the credentials to develop into a smart Flat or Jumps prospect.
He has good bone, clean limbs and is straight and correct and stands at 16H.

How much did he go for Johnb

      • Johnb 2 years ago

Not been sold yet but at £15k he would make that back easy enough with the right handling, two good years on the flat then off to national hunt racing

        • jazzerbhoy 2 years ago

That would be a nice price Johnb I would get involved with that if we could entice some more investors.
How much would it be for training fees monthly etc .
Sounds a nice venture to me.

          • Johnb 2 years ago

Depends on who you get to train and on how many people you have

            • Johnb 2 years ago

Eventually everyone regardless of circumstances will be catered for as there will be Syndicates, Racing Partnerships and a Racing Club,
The target is 20 horses in the first five years and then 100 in ten years time,
There is a serious need for something like this to be run properly, I am not big headed, I just know I am good at what I do, it’s confidence,
It is being run to make the average punter money while having the thrill of having a connection to a horse/horses while also giving back to racing through certain charities with a percentage of profits but also as I said making sure nobody loses out financially

No horse is impossible to win with, there is a race out there for them all but I do think I have a good eye which has been proved, most recently with Caprice D’anglais who is now looking a real steal

Looking at mid January for advertising in the racing press

They don’t read the comments very often so an email to explain things to them would be good.

Not a lot I can say about them as they have never run at Southwell before, just going on my view that they both look with their running style that Southwell will suit them, if they handle the surface then they are both great value and I strongly think they will both win

Could have saved yourself a bit of time by just stating you fancy the favourite in each of these races. No harm in backing favourites, providing they win. Just rare so many favourites win on the same card. I wish you luck with these selections. I see money has come for majority of these, as most prices I am seeing are even shorter than the ones you’ve quoted
      Best of luck later today

red ego i explained this yesterday no points stake to make my nap make a overall profit on the day simple as that

no nap today so level stakes its simple

with the nap have to stake to whatever its price is to make a profit so different amount each time..

never worked to points never claimed to be a pro tipster.

Busstop ok, i was simply only asking you a question. Thanks for your reply. The next time you put a nap bet up can you advise us what points stake to put on it to make sure we guarantee a profit? That would be a big help in following you. Thanks busstop and lets hope we get a few winners today.

    A few bets today.

Nap: 12.45 south stand guard 9/4
NB: 2.05 Doncaster briary belle 6/4 (I took the 15/8 available yesterday
    NB2: 3.00 south red stripes 13.00 (exchanges).
Race bet: some don’t like it but I’ll happily back a few horses in 1 race. Today in the 1.40 Kelso I’ve backed Endeavour, sudiski star and turtle watch. Most I can win is £70, least is £40 (or nothing if they all bomb)

  12. 2 years ago

Not one of my main selections and certainly not picked on form but while studying noticed this horse

First run for new trainer .B Hughes on board ,Trained in Worcestershire sent all the way to Kelso. Surely implies its trying.
Not been seen since April 2015 in an Irish points race .If it was just out for a run why send it so far.

Like I say form is nothing but seems to stand out for above reasoning

  16. jazzerbhoy 2 years ago

I was at the celtic match last night and managed a wee tenner on big Eric,at 25/1 also got 7/1 any time.I seen some on mr fixit football site that a few had the double Virgil and Eric. Well done them.
I always take the defenders now in matches as set plays are critical. Callum Paterson of hearts though now injured has been profitable, though I didn’t expect that a 30 yarder from Eric would be how he scored?

    • Author
      Mr Fixit 2 years ago

Well done. I’ve backed Sviatenchko a couple of times but not last night.
Paterson was never priced as a defender because of his attacking prowess but still decent odds.

NB Lady Bacchus 6/1 3.30 Southwell
EW The Organist 11/1 2.05 Sandown GL

  20. 2 years ago

    Morning all,

I managed to recoup some of my losses from the 27th as I made a profit on my short priced double. Both those horses of Willie Mullins are being readied for the festival – keep your eye out for Carter McKay in the champion bumper. Only one small each way selection for me today.

    2.05 Doncaster – The Organist 11/1

This horse was slammed by my tip (Briery Belle) last time by 46 lengths but the race wasn’t run to suit, I’m willing to take a chance that she can put in a improved effort today. While Briery Belle looks sure to go well again I can’t back her at her current price (no value), the organist how ever who beat her at Doncaster over hurdles looks value at 11/1. She looked sure to win a decent mares listed race at Cheltenham back in April as was 3 lengths clear when falling at the last, that win would have capped what was a good debut season for the organist (listed winner at Doncaster). While she has yet to transfer that form to fences I think the track at Doncaster is likely to suit her better and eke out further improvement. The ground will be in her favour and at 11/1 I can’t resist an each way play in the hope of better!

    Thanks and GL to all

  32. Johnb 2 years ago

Thanks everyone, highlights the importance of knowing what a horses action means as it can tell you so much how they run, breeding aswell tell you so much and is so vital at Southwell

Affair also looks likely to handle the surface but drifting badly I think he is running with three legs tied together
Saying that though Hyland Heather drifted badly yesterday but was in good form and was by far the best horse in the race and should have won so still confident with Affair

I think rich Richie have another serious horse on hes hands with benie des dieux don’t no what he beat but the way he jumped those fences was just brilliant destroyed the field

  35. duncanpoundcake 2 years ago

That’s why you have to back all system qualifiers 14/1 in to 6/1 hosed up GL.

    • Johnb 2 years ago

it’s up to people to look for them, I will post a good system when I see it but if anyone is serious then they have to look out for the systems they like

I would hope everyone knows that for a system to pay every horse must be backed, it’s not rocket science, it’s like my system, guaranteed profit every year but as I have said in the past it’s no point picking and choosing, all my selections must be backed but some people don’t

Advice for everyone, keep an eye on Affair in future especially at Southwell because she wasn’t wanted today, nothing could have beat Haraka today but it’s a pretty big giveaway when you are determined to go round the final bend at Southwell that wide and she looked like she was handling the fibresand well

      John Milton

This horse is a classic case of the value to be had in buying a racehorse,
Sold as a yearling for 200,000 Guineas he was purchased recently for £9k and he can win here at the second attempt,
On his debut he was slow away, ran green and at halfway you thought he was going to be tailed off,
Adrift at the back about a furlong and a half out the penny dropped and he ran on well
      Big improvement expected Friday

I will post other write up later

  50. Johnb 2 years ago

I was really surprised to see this horse wasn’t made favourite as I am struggling to see just how he can get beat,
The extra distance is only going to help and I can’t see the going being a problem
Only one winner in my mind but it’s racing
