MAN CITY were jolted into action by a matchday one Champions League loss to Lyon – and should gain revenge tonight.
Pep Guardiola's side have kicked on massively since that stunner and victory in France tonight will clinch top spot in Group F.
Lyon have drawn their three games since winning at the Etihad and twice chucked away points against Hoffenheim.
This time City should justify their favourites' tag and bookies know it with 4-9 from Marathonbet the biggest available.
City have netted 11 in three since and Lyon conceded seven so there should be loads of goals. Taking a City win and over 2.5 goals that ups the odds to 4-5 with boylesports.
In the other Group F game I'm taking Hoffenheim at 9-10 with Marathonbet to keep alive hopes of finishing second by beating Shakhtar Donetsk.
I was reluctant to take Man United against Crystal Palace on Saturday but they should bounce back at home to Young Boys.
United got back on track with victory away to Juventus and won 3-0 in Switzerland.
Price on a home is rubbish though at 7-10 with Coral so best bet could be United to win to nil at 11-10 with McBookie – Young Boys' only goals have come versus Valencia.
Juventus should book a last-16 place with a home win against Valencia but it won't be easy and best price is just 4-9 at Ladbrokes.
Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off in Spain before team-mates rallied for a hard-fought 2-0 win.
Ronaldo has found form with seven goals in eight games and is 3-1 at McBookie to break the deadlock.
In Group E Bayern and Ajax should progress with wins at home to Benfica and away to AEK Athens.
Bayern have won nine out of 10 meetings with the Portuguese but dropped to fifth in the Bundesliga when held 3-3 by Fortuna at the weekend.
That's six goals conceded in two games to give Benfica hope and I'm on Bayern and both to score at 15-8 with boylesport.
AEK Athens and pointless and lost 3-0 in Holland so an on-form Ajax side look a good shout at 10-13 with 10Bet.
In Group H Real Madrid and Roma are locked on nine points and I can't away from the fact a draw would suit both with CSKA Moscow and Plzen struggling to keep in touch.
Real Madrid suffered one of their worst defeats in recent memory when they crashed 3-0 at Eibar on Saturday but Roma also lost 1-0 at Udinese.
Diffcult to understand why Real are favourites with the Italians winning seven in a row at home in the Champions League so I'm going Roma draw no bet at 31-20 with Paddy Power.
If it's not a draw CSKA can stay alive by beating Plzen and are 8-11 at bet365.
Recommended Bets
- Man City & over 2.5 goals (4-5, boylesports)
- Hoffenheim (9-10, Marathonbet)
- Ronaldo to score first (3-1, McBookie)
- Bayern & btts (15-8, boylesports)
- Roma draw no bet (31-20, Paddy Power)
I’d probably advise just stay away from the United game full stop tomorrow Mr F! God knows what team will turn up and I expect another flat atmosphere.
Young Boys could even knick a goal…didn’t think I’d ever be saying this but Lindelof has been our best defender this season and he is injured so will be Baily/Jones partnering Smalling. Dunno what is worse, the thought of Jones and Smalling together or Smallings haircut!
Or I could be talking rubbish and Pogba and Martial could turn up and we win 3-0 haha
Difficult to disagree – you’ll tell from my preview when it’s posted that there’s not much I fancy.
I’m more looking at the X or
Lyon +1 for X also.
Lyon is playing home, won last time and still playing well.
Manchester City is best and favorites, but without Mendy, Gundogan, B. Silva, Jesus and
Bruyne.
Both teams can be happy with the draw.
Man City & over 2.5 goals
Hoffenheim
Ronaldo anytime scorer
Bayern & btts
Roma double chance
21/1
