The second day of the Australian Open brings more superstars to the courts as one of the top favourites, Coco Gauff, starts her campaign. She's facing an old friend, Sofia Kenin. Let's see what our best tennis betting tips for Monday, day two of the Australian Open are.
Best Australian Open betting tips for day 2
Coco Gauff to win 2-0 @ 7/25
Gauff has looked stellar to start the year, helping the United States win the United Cup. She's playing at a high level, looking as comfortable as ever, and she has a lot to prove—not only to herself but also to Sofia Kenin, who handed her some painful defeats. Overall, she's the much better player in better form and will likely show it in this match.
Betting the 2-0 sound a bit risky because Gauff’s game has tended to be all over the place in the past. However, we have confidence that this Gauff is not the Gauff of old. She is a much more serious player, especially when it comes to winning matches as quickly as possible.
Maya Joint to win a set @ 6/5
Maya Joint is a superbly talented teenager who will have a chance to prove herself on the biggest stage in Melbourne. A native player, she’ll be heavily motivated to do well, and after starting this year in good form, there is reason to be optimistic. Her opponent is Jessica Pegula, who just played in a final and lost.
Pegula will likely be a bit tired, maybe a bit sluggish and slow to start, giving Joint a great chance to win a set. Her aggressive style is generally the type of style that works best against Pegula, so all the ingredients are there.
Kyrgios to beat Fearnley @ 5/6
The markets have cooled off on Nick Kyrgios a little bit, but he’s certainly the favourite here against Britain’s Jacob Fearnley. Fearnley is a stellar player with a superb overall game, but in Melbourne, on home soil, we have to take Kyrgios at this price.
He could lose the match, but the Australian has touted a newfound maturity (when it comes to playing tennis, that is) and kind of showed it two years ago. We think that losing in the first round of his home slam might be a bit too much of a stretch. The lights certainly won’t be too bright.
