Day 15 of the Australian Open is men’s final day, which means there is only one more match to be played at this year’s Australian Open.
Despite all our picks coming from one match, we found some really interesting value in Jannik Sinner vs Alexander Zverev this Sunday.
Best Australian Open betting tips for day 15
Sinner to win @ 7/20
Jannik Sinner is the reigning world No. 1 and best player in the world. He’s also the defending champion of this event after winning it last year, and a two-time Grand Slam champion.
All of that is part of the reason why backing him to win is the right move. Zverev has a lot to prove, but the matchup with Zverev isn’t the best for him because he tends to struggle against Sinner’s type of player.
He lacks the weapons and power to blow Sinner off the court, and he can be quite vulnerable at times. Judging by how their matchup last year went and how they’ve played so far this year, it tells us that Sinner is far more likely to win the match.
Over 35.5 games @ 3/6
Even if Sinner is the more likely player to win, that doesn’t mean that this matchup will be all too easy for him. Looking back at their match in Cincinnati last year, we can see that Zverev did put up a good fight.
The sets went 7-6, 7-5, 7-6, and something similar can be expected tomorrow. Such scores are ideal for backing the over on the games because it’s a final, it’s not going to be easy for either player.
Whatever happens, it’s very likely that we see at least four sets, and with that, this line should be easily cleared.
First set over 9.5 @ 4/6
In a similar vein to the pick above, we’re going to back the first set being rather close. Winning the first set will be massively important for both players as they hope to win the trophy, so expect both to play it as seriously as possible.
That makes it much more likely that we see a tiebreak set or generally close set than usual. There is also the fact that two of the last three sets they played ended in a tiebreak while all three cleared this line. They’ve played close sets forever, so back that to happen once more.
