Caernarfon Town v Cefn Druids
JD Welsh Premier League. Live on S4C. 17.15 Kick Off.
FRIDAY night's preview of Bala Town v Camarthen saw 2/3 tips come in, and the third, a 6/1 correct score prediction, unluckily denied by a late Camarthen goal in their 2-1 loss. Whilst I will be looking at some higher profile Welsh teams next week, Sunday throws up an interesting Welsh Prem game live on S4C.
Caernarfon make a long awaited return to the top tier of welsh football after a 9 year absence. Its been a long way back for the canaries who plunged to the third tier between 2008 and 2010, following some serious financially difficulties. They will undoubtedly be on a massive high going into this game after romping to the 2nd tier title last season, only losing once and racking up a huge 98 goals in 28 games.
Cefn Druids are also enjoying a decent spell lately, entering the Europa League qualifiers this season for only the second time in their history after winning the Welsh Premier League play off in May, where they were unfortunate to lose 2-1 on aggregate to Trakai of Lithuania. Last season they found goals hard to come by, but have snapped up talented striker Dean Rittenberg from Bangor City, and they'll be hoping he gives them more of a cutting edge.
The last meeting between these two sides came in the 2nd tier in 2016, where an action packed match at Cefn Druids ground The Rock saw Caernarfon run away with a 7-o victory, and an investigation into crowd trouble as a Druids sending off sparked a mass brawl. If you fancy something a little rougher than Arsenal v City on Sunday, this could be the game for you!
I can see goals in this game as both teams will enter the match in optimistic mood and will be looking to impress in front of the TV cameras. I also fancy Caernarfon to continue their good from of last season, as home games especially will be key to them staying in the top flight this season.
Recommended bets
- Half with most goals- 2nd half. 11/10 (Skybet)
- Caernarfon Town to win either half, 3/5 (Skybet)
- Caernarfon Town win and BTTS, 16/5 (Skybet)
Work colleague of mine is Caernarvons longest serving player and he has bought a new pair of boots so they are serious about this.
They have largely the same squad and could struggle as the season continues.
There will be 800+ there tomorrow including myself and the occasion could propel them or freeze them.
They got to the Welsh cup semis 2 years ago so thrive on their underdog tag although bookies make them favourites.
Again I agree with you with Caernarvon edging it 2-1 or 3-2.
My picks would be a goal in each half 9-10.
Over 2.5 match goals evens
Both at bet victor.
We are beating Buckley 4-1 and it’s sad to see as we should be in the premier league.
☹️☹️
Bangor to win every game this season would be a good bet, if markets existed for such things haha. Watched Wrexham earlier on today they were impressive, although Boreham Wood didn’t really show up.
Wrexham defence was spot on last season too, they needed a hitman to turn 0-0 draws into wins.
They are the longest serving club in that league and would be nice to see them go up.
Yeah they look solid at the back. Maguire-Drew on loan from Brighton looked quality
FT Caernarfon 1 Cefn Druids 0. Just the 1 of 3 tips landing on this one, game looked nicely poised for more goals with the score 1-0 at half time. Unfortunate not to see more goals as shots were cleared off the line and Caernarfon denied a clear penalty.
Cheers, good to see some Welsh games previewed.
