APRIL hasn't started well for Johnb with a 7.5pts loss so far but anyone having a go should remember February and March figures.

Our man is hoping for a happy Easter Monday and I wish him well with his latest tips.

certainly looks generous odds and should be in the mix but im wondering why SEAN BOWEN is riding for NICHOLLS and not his father? Surely its not a weight thing and another worth a look is VICTORS SERENADE dropped in class and his last win was over C&D with CARRUTHERS miles behind.

Hi gus. are you backing anything in the irish national?

  38. double carpet 3 years ago

Having only had 5 chase runs hes still improving and carrying 10-8 which seems very fair. He was runner up to ON HIS OWN over 3m 1f and ON HIS OWN went on to almost win the gold cup last year as we know. He was also 3rd behind GALANT OSCAR in the leinster national over 3m and GALANT OSCAR is now rated a stone higher now. He is also a good jumper but as you know luck plays a huge part in a race like this.

    Morning all! :c)

How are we all? Good I hope!

Well, it won’t be long now until I’m walking (waddling) the course at Aintree.

Let’s hope we can find some good value winners on Friday (and Thursday and Saturday, of course!) but specifically Friday as I will be there wearing my finest suit of armour (or at least once I have managed to find an upgrade! Not quite the same simply polishing up an old one!)

Anyone else from here going? Promises to be a beautiful day weather wise!

Anyhow – Best of luck today and I do hope you’ve all had a lovely Easter! :c)

    First time post……

Excellent thread guys. I follow mainly the big guns ie johnb de Niro DC dougie Alanm etc etc but everyone has contributed somewhere along the line. Well done keep up the fantastic work.

Had word on whispering times 1:10 at Redcar expecting a big run. Odds have shortened from 9s to 5s but still some value in that

    Good luck all

  79. barriem 3 years ago

    Morning guys

My tip for signed request has come in from 10/1 to 11/2 hope use are on it

  80. johnb 3 years ago

Good to see Gallant Oscar is a non runner in the Irish National as he was favourite for the race,
Connections did tell me a while back before odds were available for the Grand National that they fancied him strongly to win at Aintree so by pulling him out of the Irish National they must be pretty confident they can get in at Aintree

  81. Wato 3 years ago

Johnb is that your choice for the National then?

  82. Alanm 3 years ago

This is early season and there is not a great deal to get excited about, and if I said to you I am backing a horse who is currently on a losing run of 23 you would probably think I was a bit mad. However I’ve made cases for horses well worse than this one, and for those of you was here last season, you cannot argue that we did have a go with this horse and I’m surprised we didn’t collect to be honest. The horse is King of Eden and although it’s a risk, I have to back it at the price and I’m hoping the horse has wintered well and the trainer has maybe tweaked something, to try and revitalise the horse. Make no mistake, on his best form he should trounce this field, but I will agree with many that it might just drift down the ratings never to be seen again, which is what happens with older handicappers. That said it knows how to win and I noted it in my book when winning in a canter at Newcastle in April 2013, and my first thoughts were this horse could win the Victoria Cup. The official handicapper thought so to and promptly put him on a mark of 90 which scuppered his chances and I was hoping it would come back down the ratings fairly quick to a winning mark again, but alas that didn’t happen and the horse spent most of 2013 getting his mark down to the level that had proved it could win. That mark being 83 which proved so good at Newcastle Since then, the horse has lost it’s will to win and his rating has plumetted even further down to 72 which I think is OK but judging by the performances the handicapper has been rather hard the horse for a considerable time but finally, he is at his lowest mark since his glory days in 2010 and provided Eric Alston can get a tune out of the horse,it could spring a surprise on his first run of the season on turf.
So let’s look at the evidence, he’s getting on a bit but on a very likeable mark. Has winning conditions over 7furlongs and wouldn’t want any rain. Has won twice on the first runs of the season, albeit season 2010 and 2011, has an explosive turn of foot, opposition is not up to much, so if fit enough, his class should outshine this field. The final cog in the system is that a horse with a 16% strike rate is just up my street. I don’t understand why the horse did stints on the all weather but hopefully we will find out soon.
Remember what I said about early season backing. Stake has to be reasonable enough to not get you hacked off if it fails. Price is very good, and I would love this to come in because it’s one of the longest losing runs in my list of potential winners for this season, but it is only a small bet.
    Bet is:
    £10 win King Of Eden 3.55 Redcar 22-1 Bet365

your the 2nd person to mention that horse. I was talking to my mate last night on the phone and he mentioned it to me too and i told him to go see the doctor !!
But after that write up i have to have a small play now.
only thing is if it does come in can you imagine what ill have to listen to !!
    Gl mate

  90. De Niro 3 years ago

To add to the three given last night that have all been well backed esp the first two.
    Going to have a go in Ireland on two;

Ruby in the Grand national and Mullins again with Townsend up in the 3-20

    Irish Grand National 5-00
    Perfect Gentleman 12/1 e/way

    Fairyhouse 3-20
    Zaidpour 9/1 e/way stan james

was close to going with the money for Dedigout as the trainer has a great win % and profit on hurdle runners at Fairyhouse but P Carberry is 2/50 for the trainer over hurdles and I like him more as a jump jockey.
Enough at the skinny price to look elsewhere for me,
So gone for Zaidpour – trainer say its fit and ready to go and Townend as a better record and much better profit than Ruby which would suprise some – so on Mullins hurlders and chasers for the 2014/2015 season – on the hurdlers alone which is were 80% of the profit comes from Townsend is a massive £46-57 up were as Ruby is minus £8-42 to level stakes – so enough to swing it in favour of Zaidpour for me at 9/1 its a seems a steal IMHO.

    4.50 The happy hammer

    1p w dble

  171. tbone 3 years ago

Im gutted jumps is coming to an end. I love royal ascot and kingman. Frankle etc but i cant stand when you get a tight field and your horse cant even get a run. Does my head in and just makes betting on flat much less enjoyable. Yes maybe i should stay away from it if thats how i feel

  172. Alex 3 years ago

Just following the money at the moment but there is a huge market move for Park Row in the 6:25 Fairyhouse. Opened up as big as 25-1 currently 10-1 so I will have a few pounds E/W. IF anyone that knows there stuff can have a look…

  173. WESLEY WEST 3 years ago

Tomorrows NAP- 2:40 legends gate 6/4. Had a few bad naps but hopefully this will change things. Think this is a great price and can see this going off odds on!

  174. double carpet 3 years ago

    Hi lads
my day out lasted longer than anticipated so missed all the racing. Not a great day for myself but at least nap won so not a total disaster.
Well done to all the winners for today.
Im having a quick look through the cards for tomorrow and think ive come accross a nice one but will look further into it first before putting up.
    gl all

  175. KOI 3 years ago

  177. Alanm 3 years ago

Alex Mullins has the Fav in the race currently trading at 7/4 this horse won’t be beaten and will be odds on by tomorrow.

  178. RobRoy 3 years ago

AlanM which horse and race is that?

  179. double carpet 3 years ago

    2.00 ROAYH 14/1 ponte
Worth keeping one eye on the market with this one. Off the track for 808 days so has obviously had his problems but hes a former godolphin horse that was running in group races and new trainer is 4 wins from last 11.

  180. Rookie 3 years ago

Was that the one you were referring to DC? Can you believe it,palace win and btts was 10/1… yes i contemplated it!

  181. Bun west 3 years ago

Yes DC. love information like that. Will definitely be on.

  182. double carpet 3 years ago

Yeah rookie i just seen the name and thought thats interesting but needed to be sure. It could be just a run to get him back but with the trainers form atm you never know hence the market check.
with regards to city they are just crap. I backed city and btts so got it half right. Could you imagine it if they failed to get top 4 !!

  183. WESLEY WEST 3 years ago

Evening chaps, quick question- does anyone here use sportingindex? I’ve been told by a friend it can be very profitable. At a first glance it seems very high risk. Can anybody give me some feedback before I venture into it. Regards

      Mr Fixit 3 years ago

WESLEY WEST, sportingindex offer spread bets so be very wary before getting involved and make sure you know the maximum potential lost on any bet as they can be extremely high. Can be very profitable as can any betting be if you pick the right results but spread betting can also see you run up huge losses. If you’re a spread betting novice ask for a stop loss account.

  184. double carpet 3 years ago

never even heard of it so sorry cant give you any info on that one

  185. Rookie 3 years ago

Nice one dc. Yea i know. I see pellegrini is leading the sack race now…
The wife just picked out vintage star for the national next week. Odds range from 50s – 100s which i thought was interesting…

  186. Kev 3 years ago

  187. Kev 3 years ago

  188. Kev 3 years ago

  189. The taxman 3 years ago

They have a fair chance Kev il tell you that! Trixie as you say would be best way to go. 5.10 to me looks the trickiest.

  190. conor 3 years ago

Thanks de niro for brave zolo today and swany for clubs are trumps and john b for dedgiout ….had picked tammys hill in the national just found out that the poor horse broke its leg and had to be put down…. a wonderful horse it was a sight when it won the foxhunters chase last year at cheltenham in some fashion..all connections are devestated …
