GARETH BALE is the 4-11 favourite with Paddy Power to be crowned this season’s PFA Player of the Year.
After the shortlist was leaked, the Irish firm revised the market to make the Welsh winger a clear market leader to win the vote of his fellow players.
The timing of the vote in February is likely to enhance Bale’s chances as it came when he was dominating the back page headlines.
Other names on the shortlist for the award are Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez and Arsenal’s Samir Nasri at 6-1, Man Utd’s Nemanja Vidic at 8-1, West Ham’s Scott Parker at 10-1 and Blackpool’s Charlie Adam at 11-1.
Paddy Power spokesman Darren Haines said: ”There isn’t really a standout player who has dominated the season in the way we have seen in recent years but Bale’s breathtaking San Siro performances in the Champions League look most likely to have caught the attention of his peers.”
