With the January transfer window just over a month away, many markets will be reopening for transfer betting in the near future. Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi was one of the league's most sought-after centre-backs in the summer, and a move to Newcastle fell through at the last minute.
With the Eagles now battling against relegation, there is potential that Guehi pried away from Selhurst Park, in lieu of struggling at the bottom of the table. Many suitors were poised to secure the Englishman's signature in the summer, and there is no reason they would not still be interested in the upcoming window.

Newcastle – 1/1
The summer favourites to secure Guehi's services were Newcastle United. With a cruciate ligament injury keeping first-choice centre-back Sven Botman out until January, Eddie Howe was in search of a new defender to partner Fabian Schar. The English manager had thought that a £70 million deal would be enough to tempt Guehi to St. James' Park, but the Palace hierarchy believed the proposed deal to be unacceptable.
However, with Palace now threatened with relegation, they will not want to see their star man leave for less than his market value. The current scenario may persuade Palace to sell, and Newcastle will be ready to pounce. Although Botman returns from injury in January, it is unlikely the club would pass up the opportunity to sign a defender as capable as Guehi, especially if offered him at a reduced price.
Liverpool – 9/2
With Virgil van Dijk's contract up in the summer, Liverpool will be in need of a new centre-back to partner Ibrahima Konate. Interest in Guehi emerged from the Reds, but they did not make any significant moves towards signing the Englishman. However, with van Dijk's future still uncertain, this could all change in January.
With Konate having established himself as Slot's preference in the middle of defence, a van Dijk departure would leave a very large void in the Liverpool backline. With Jarell Quansah still not trusted, and Joe Gomez also looking likely to leave, a January move for Guehi may be on the cards. Expect the club's most recent odds to reduce significantly if the club are unable to resolve their Dutch talisman's contract dilemma.
Arsenal – 16/1
Outsiders Arsenal have also been given a chance of getting Guehi to put pen to paper at the Emirates. The recent frailties of Gabriel and, previously, Jurrien Timber may push manager Mikel Arteta to bring in another top class centre-back. Guehi certainly fits the bill for an Arteta signing. Quick and silky in possession, he would slot right into the Arsenal defence and provide excellent competition for one of the league's most nailed-on centre-back partnerships.
However, with Newcastle and Liverpool experiencing a much more dire need for a new centre-half, it would appear Arteta would have his work cut out if he were to make a move for Crystal Palace's star player. An injury to either Saliba or Gabriel could prove pivotal to the Spaniard's decision to move for Guehi in January.
