Another day of a decent winner and not much to go with it, we did get a double figure runner place but despite that, we are barely recouping are stake, that's fine enough for me given the strategy but it'd be nice to land a decent one sooner rather than later.

Today's selections are relatively chancy, I do like Flash Bardot who is the strongest selection by some way, Theoryofeverything is in a trick contest but is capable, I don't expect much but still a worthy inclusion. The Greenall/Guerriero two to conclude the bet aren't overly warranted, one looks up against it on paper whilst the other is up against some well versed Cheltenham regulars.

Attacanter's Tips

Flash Bardot 8/1 – 16.01 Newbury

Jack Channon's Flash Bardot is a horse I happened to be on last time when scraping into the places at Newmarket in a Class 2 almost three weeks ago, that was pleasing enough and today should see her in an ever better light.

She remains on the same mark, she finished six lengths behind the winner, a nice enough William Haggas horse, Typical Woman was 3 lengths ahead seeking a hattrick whilst the horse in behind, Incensed, was a very tidy winner of a four runner race prior to this.

It was the first decent enough effort since April which was over today's C&D on similar ground, she won that race off this mark comfortably by over 2 lengths, David Probert was on board and takes back over today which can only be a positive for this mud loving filly.

Theoryofeverything 9/1 four places – 14.43 Doncaster

I am willing to take a chance on a rare pairing in top jockey William Buick and David O'Meara. The combination have only teamed up 27 times but five winners means almost 20% of their entries have won.

In fairness, this race does look quite warm so the win back in September may mean we're a little high in the weights but I thought the horse has shown enough and is capable of getting involved off a relatively nice price now dipped back into a Class 3 for the first time in 5 runs.

The horse has won twice this season, rated 87 on soft at Hamilton over 1m1f, before going in in a Class 2 at Ascot rated 90, again on soft. Now 4lbs above that, as mentioned, he is certainly up against it in terms of win prospects but his preference for further/stiff tracks can ensure he is keeping on as others fade off the back of a respectable 8th at York last time.

Bay of Australia 14/1 four places – 20.15 Wolverhampton

I thought it was quite easy to land on English Spirit, who after early support is now around 5/1 for the likeable Mitchell/Main combination, the selection has seemingly seen no shortage of support having near halved in price. I've discounted a good few of these and I thought that entitled a chance to be taken on a bigger priced runner.

The Greenall/Guerriero yard don't have many on the flat but this ex-Adrian Keatley runner is a regular here, the odds are of course indicative and we'll need a fair bit of luck given how inconsistent the horse has been but with Paddy retaining the ride I am just about willing to risk it, having been let down by a few too many short prices of late.

Back in September his C&D 2nd in a small five runner field gives me enough hope now running off a 3lb lower mark. Well clear of the 3rd that day, the winner has went in again since. Dropped 1f again here after that, the horse only managed 5th when beaten by two of today's rivals, he's 6lbs better off with the winner Newfangled and 2lbs with Harbour Vision, that doesn't warrant a turnaround in form but Newfangled is favourite in this and on paper we aren't that far behind him.

Jacks Parrot 10/1 five places – 15.35 Cheltenham

I am usually put off by unease early in the market, I do find it to be pretty accurate but following the ‘money' is another fools game so I'll include the Greenall/Guerriero runner in this who as just a five year old, does have risks attached as the youngest runner in the field.

Will Biddick is a highly respected amateur, the horse of course can easily be out for a canter but my selection's rider is vastly experienced here and we can hope it isn't a wasted journey for a yard who had a great year last term.
