Another error in judgement cost us as I once again yesterday as I swapped out a placed runner for one that did nothing. It was nice to put up a massive priced runner in Falcon Eight who placed at an SP of 33/1, unfortunately, we had nothing to pair it with as the rest disappointed.

We're nearly halfway through the month, singles aren't looking great but there's plenty of scope for improvement. We've technically only paid for 2 of our 13 L15's which is hard to moan at.

Borealis Thunder 9/2 – 17.30 Wolverhampton

This card was extremely competitive last year, a few photos were involved whilst no horse managed to win by more than three quarters of a length. Alice Haynes had a winner and two 2nds, she has a couple at Kempton but her most winningest jockey is Kieran O'Neill who is on board the selection.

Borealis Thunder is almost effectively one of four vying for favouritism in what is a next to impossible race to decipher, she'll need to improve on what she's shown but like many do when making her handicap debut, she may well do.

I am without my usual stat resource site and have been for a week or so, as such I can't overly sell this 2yo, it's a nursery with plenty capable of improvement but I am happy enough with this one.

Seraphic 14/1 four places – 16.15 Windsor

I was considering this horse two starts back when ultimately leaving it – I happened to catch the race, I thought the horse ran really well looking like causing an upset at one point but being nabbed late going down by a neck and short head.

That run was over today's C&D, the 2nd won next time out whilst the winner opposes again today 3lbs worse off yet more than half the price. The selection disappointed on the AW last time but I see no reason why he won't be fully going for it now returned back to this C&D at a tasty looking price.

The winner that day should be fine with the more testing conditions but it is also likely to benefit us, perhaps more having started out in France. The trainer looks to have finally figured out his trip having been tried over 1m2f, 2 miles and even over obstacles, a similar level of effort to the last time he was here will see him outrun his price.

Inexplicable 8/1 four places – 19.30 Wolverhampton

Andrew Brittain is a dwindling force, from memory he only operates around 5% these days but he did have a small burst of form recently and I am happy to chance his runner in this in what looks an open enough affair for the places.

The horse was 5th of 11 last time over today's C&D off this mark, that doesn't scream back me, but this is a slightly worse race and he is 1lb below his previous two wins, both from this year. He has actually been very consistent this year at the track so we can overlook his dreadful form from the summer, as he is like most of the trainer's runners are, an AW winter campaigner and at the expense of his Blue Force in the opener, I am going to include him.

Follow Your Heart 12/1 – 19.15 Kempton

Billy Loughnane rides in Keeneland on Sunday evening yet travels back in a hurry to ride for his father at Kempton. He has a full book of rides but it is one I have chanced a few times before that will be included today.

Follow Your Heart will be of interest this AW season but at risk of chancing him a tad early, I thought on paper at least, he has enough in his favour to warrant throwing him in. Three places isn't ideal based on his recent runs but we shouldn't be losing much on this bet, and as such he's thrown in.

For interest I'll mention the other three runners which I was considering concluding the bet with. Daymer Bay 12/1 four places – 17.15 Kempton, East Bank 10/1 four places – 19.45 Kempton, Olympic Quest 16/1 four places – 19.00 Wolverhampton.

The recent form does suggest he is avoidable but on paper he is certainly capable. He was predominantly tried in Class 4 contest's last season, even dipping his toes into C2's a couple of times. He was best at this time last year, typically over today's C&D, he put in 3 placed efforts in a row here, all off higher marks before winning at Wolverhampton rated 82.

He is 6lbs lower today in a worse contest, Billy is back on for this time in five runs which again is a small positive. A turnaround in form is needed as hinted at but we'll risk it given the price and hope to catch him again if it isn't to be today.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
