Spain vs Denmark

, KO: 19:45 Oct 12, 2024, Estadio Nueva Condomina
Denmark

Spain are set to take on Denmark in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday, 12 October in a match between the top two teams in the group.

A win here for Spain would see them leapfrog Denmark into first position and take control of the group and considering they are the current European champions, they will feel a bit of pressure to get the job done in Murcia.

Denmark have started the Nations League campaign in brilliant form, winning both of their opening two matches and will be confident of picking up a positive result on Saturday.

How the bookies view it: The hosts go in big favourites

After winning Euro 2024 a few months ago, Spain have quickly become a team with a target on their backs and they will have to get used to that. Betfred have priced them as the 2/5 favourites for this one while Denmark are the underdogs at 7/1. The draw, which would keep the Danes on top of the group, has been priced at 18/5.

Recent head-to-head: Spanish dominance

This is a fixture that has been very kind to Spain over the years and they are unbeaten across their last seven matches against Denmark. As part of that run, which stretches back to more than 30 years, Spain have won six matches against the Danes and drawn one.

Denmark's last win over Spain came in 1993 but they have never beaten them in Spain in their history.

Players to watch: Youth vs experience

This match sees the very best teenager in world football come up against one of the most experienced players in the game. Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old sensation who took over Euro 2024, will look to break through a Denmark side led by Christian Eriksen, who is set for his 137th cap on Saturday.

Both players are at opposite ends of their career but they could both have a big impact on this one. Yamal's sensational summer in Germany has seen him become Spain's most important attacking player and he has started the season brilliantly for Barcelona. So far, he has scored five goals and provided six assists in La Liga and the Champions League.

Eriksen, meanwhile, has enjoyed a mini resurgence at club level with Erik Ten Hag bringing him back into the starting XI at Man Utd. The 32-year-old has scored three goals and provided two assists in his last five starts and will be Denmark's chief creator on Saturday night.

Predicted line-ups

Spain will look quite different from when they last took to the field with Rodri and Dani Carvajal both suffering season-ending knee injuries in recent weeks. Denmark have Rasmus Hojlund available again after the young forward missed the last break due to injury.

Spain: Raya – Porro, Cubarsi, Laporte, Cucurella – Zubimendi, Pedri, Ruiz – Yamal, Morata, Baena

Denmark: Schmeichel – Kristensen, Vestergaard, Nelsson – Bah, Hojbjerg, Eriksne, Hjulmand, Kristiansen –  Poulsen, Hojlund

Anything else catch the eye?

With Spain missing two of their most experienced players this week, their team will likely be a little disjointed which could disrupt their flow. Denmark aren't the most expansive team at the best of times and none of their last six matches have produced more than two goals. Under 2.5 goals to be scored has been priced at 11/10 by Betfred.

This match between Spain and Denmark will be played on Oct 12, 2024 and kick off at 19:45. Check below for our tipsters best Spain vs Denmark prediction. You may also visit our dedicated betting previews section for the most up to date previews.
