Tennis Prediction and Betting Tips 2024

As rain has hammered the Shanghai Masters so far, we get plenty of choices for today’s best betting tips. This Monday, we bring you the two best values we spotted from today’s slate. It’s been a very interesting tournament so far with the courts slowed down, providing lots of opportunity to find some good value in upsets.

Best tennis tips and predictions today

In our first betting tip, we’re going to back an aging veteran to do what he does best and surprise a young player who might not be familiar with how good he actually can be. In our other, we’re going to keep it simple and back a player who has played very well so far this year, who the conditions in Shanghai should certainly favour in this matchup as well.

Wawrinka to defeat Cobolli @ 4/1

This doesn’t make much sense by all the metrics that we have available because Cobolli has been really good so far this year with a 25-12 record on hard courts. Wawrinka has not, with a 1-4 record.

What makes us back Wawrinka here is simply the way he played that first match here. He looked very solid. The serve was solid, the baseline play was solid, and Cobolli struggles against solid.

He’s a very streaky player who goes above and beyond most times, which can work against him in this clash with Wawrinka. If the Swiss veteran brings his solid play and backs it up with good serving, then he might just pull it off.

The odds are what makes this bet so valuable because you generally won’t see these kinds of odds for something that’s technically possible in tennis. This is very possible, and we’re going to back it to happen due to how they both play.

One is very solid, while the other can be all over the place with his erratic play at times.

Musetti to beat Goffin @ 3/6

We’re backing this one mostly because it’s a matchup that works really well for Musetti in the conditions that they’re going to find themselves in. Shanghai has been slowed down quite a bit compared to last year.

It used to be a very quick court, but this year it has been slowed down, which will harm Goffin quite a bit. Yes, he’s the far better hitter compared to the two, but Musetti has many tricks up his sleeve, and he has improved quite a bit on hard courts.

The slices are very good defensive tools, and his serve has also been quite solid this year. Overall, he simply seems like the more consistent player, and while the odd is nothing special, it’s still plus money if it hits.

Sometimes you have to go for the most likely one, and with a 3-0 record all-time against Goffin and on two different surfaces, it just seems like a no-brainer in a somewhat lacklustre slate of matches.
