Three of the four selections placed for us yesterday, being let down by Iris Dancer who was well worthy of inclusion. Unfortunately the profit from 3 placing means we can't sail off into the sunset just yet so we'll have another go and hope to claw back some of the deficit before I am away again from Tuesday.

Today's selections are not overly typical, regrettably I am staying close to the top of the market, I suppose if doing that, I might as well go for the really solid types, for instance Ed Bethell has some nice runners today but yet mine still come with risks. We'll rely on some outright winners to make the bet profitable but a couple have decent chances of that.

Tropical Talent 4/1 four places – 15.05 Sedgefield

I selected this horse before it's price crashed from 7/1, I am going to stick with it on a day where the yard could have a few go close.

The Greenhall yard was noteworthy long before teaming up with Josh Guerriero, they had such a good season last year, I suppose everyone is now aware of their capabilities.

The horse won off 82 here back in May before having quite a poor summer, his next three runs were nothing short of terrible. He was last seen back over hurdles, that was a much improved effort which we can hope translates back over the larger obstacles now returned to Sedgefield.

The horse is 1lb lower today and has unfortunately been found in the market before I was able to post. It is a risky selection at the prices but given my average advised selection is above 9/1, I don't mind the odd day when more shorter solid types are included.

The yard had a winner with their last hurdler, last September they were only 3 from 19 but 29% of their runners have won here over the previous 4 years, albeit those are mostly from 2022.

Chemical Warfare 5/1 – 16.50 Sedgefield

Chemical Warfare was last seen over Hurdles at the beginning of this month in what I hope was just a pipe opener for this race. Now back Chasing, connections will be hoping he can resume where he left off having a 1st & 2nd to his name in July. A 4lb rise puts him on his highest mark ever which makes his price quite thin but I think he's capable of having an impact still.

He hasn't gone beyond 2m4f too often so there is still untapped potential based off of his last Chase over 3m2f, he was given a very patient ride, wide throughout but still travelled into the race like a dream unable to catch the winner who made all with first run. He has his ground today which will hopefully ensure he puts in another consistent effort.

The trainer of that win, C Ellam actually has one in this funnily enough, which did almost make he chance it given how little weight the horse will carry, Brendan Powell remains on board, he was on for it's last win now 5lbs above that. It was well beat last time but may be a different prospect over this trip around 10/1 as it stands.

Many A Year 10/3 three places – 17.15 Hamilton

I was actually set to chance a bigger priced runner from this trainer on the AW, he has two, both were of interest but as mentioned further down, one doubled in price and I'll save him for another day.

I am sticking with this horse given the prices of today's runners, it is somewhat of a risk as the 3 shortest priced runners placing still results in a loss but there is an added chance that we land outright winners so it goes in.

With that said, the horse does not have a likeable profile looking at his paper form. A 4th last time out here, was his best run to date, now leading the market I am taking that as a positive sign, I often see strong market leaders without form and the money is oft correct, but as usual I have trepidation, a word I use too much, if anyone has any synonyms, let me know in the comments.

Beasley does OK for the trainer, but Kaiyer Fraiser has been on a couple of his recent wins, which isn't ideal given he is on another, I am fine with that because he is probably involved in a ”package deal” being on a last time out winner for the trainer, a horse Rizzel tipped up at around 10/1, the combination shared a winner again yesterday whilst the 2nd and 3rd from his last win finished 2nd and 3rd again yesterday, which is a boost to the form.

Rain Cap's jockey fluffed things for us yesterday, he had 4 rides and the one I put up was his only runner not to place, costing us a full house. It is another spare looking ride but the hrose has been going close without his 7lbs which gives him a squeak if trying.

Danehill Star 8/1 four places – 19.00 Wolverhampton

It doesn't make too much sense to go with shorter priced selections and then include a total punt, potentially spoiling our day, but we have to at least find one with some potential at a price.

With an extra place, this race was of obvious interest and I'm going to settle on a horse who finally showed some form last time after struggling to beat a rival in his previous 3 runs. Marco Ghiani is not a rider synonymous with Tony Carroll but he was on the horse last time, and has ridden a winner and two 2nds from 7 rides this last year.

The jockey looks like he is here to ride Marcus, a horse who should be going close, if you fancy the look of my shorter priced runners and not this one, perhaps he is a viable alternative.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
