Ligue 1 top scorer odds and tips: Muani could give punters a run for their money at 8/1

Even at this early stage of the season, the race to finish as the top goalscorer in Ligue 1 is already shaping up to be a fiercely competitive one. 

With Kylian Mbappe no longer around to hoover up the prize on an annual basis, let's take a look at who the current front runners are to finish as the leading marksman in the French top-flight this term.

Mason Greenwood has hit the ground running in Ligue 1 following his move to Marseille over the summer. Given that PSG no longer have a superstar forward spearheading their attack, coupled with the fact that Marseille will have a kind schedule this season as they are not in Europe, Greenwood warrants favouritism in the top goalscorer market.

Jonathan David – 4/1

Despite scoring just once across his four Ligue 1 outings this season, Jonathan David is the 4/1 second favourite in the top goalscorer market. What makes that price all the more surprising is the fact that the Lille forward has failed to find the back of the net in each of his last three matches. That being said, the season is still in its infancy, not to mention David did finish joint second top goal scorer last term behind Kylian Mbappe. While the Canadian hitman is expected to be in the top goalscorer conversation again this season, there would appear to be better value options elsewhere.

Alexandre Lacazette – 10/1

Alexandre Lacazette has finished second and joint-second top goalscorer in Ligue 1 in each of the last two seasons, making him an appealing prospect to go one better this time around at 10/1. The Lyon striker has struck once in three appearances this season, but it's worth noting that 16 of his Ligue 1 goals last season were netted from mid-October onwards.

However, with Lyon back on the European stage this season, the veteran forward's game time may have to be managed more carefully by Lyon boss Pierre Sage this term, so much so that Lacazette could be worth opposing at the prices.
