I asked for divine intervention yesterday and we got it in abundance as all three runners placed at nice prices. The NR was very unlikely to feature which was an added bonus.

A quick mention on Good Banter, what a run! If anyone backed it you'd have been screaming your heart out. That is what racing is all about, a 25/1 debutant heading the odds on favourite very late only to be done in a photo.

Attacanter Racing Tips

Blue Storm 11/2 3 places – 14.05 Beverley

Gemma Tutty is quoted as saying she is happy to take her chance in this despite the horse not having had quite the amount of work she wanted it to. The horse takes a slight step up in trip from last time at a stiff track so let's hope we aren't relying too heavily on stamina.

Just a 3yo taking on some seasoned pros makes this tough with questions still to answer. Robert Cowell was 2nd in this recently, if it was a handicap, Clarendon House would be carrying a fair bit more than my selection. You have to suspect Ray Dawson gets first choice.

With the plum draw, I am hoping my Blue Storm is just too much speed for the field despite the trainer's reservations. She has had some great runs recently, none more so than when missing the start and finishing 2nd to Pilgrim at Royal Ascot. The 3rd is 2-2 since, the 4th had won 5 of 6 coming into it. Shagraan was 6th.

Three places are on offer so if we are caught we may well still claim a place. The Dods runner being a 6f horse is likely to appreciate it here whilst Staincliff hasn't done much wrong.

Imperial Trooper 11/2 – 16.45 Sandown

A chance is taken in a Nursery again, Buick does well here and given we can't be on his shorter ones, this may be best of the rest. He's won here for the trainer recently, sharing 7 winners from 38 runners over the last few seasons.

Art Market was a recent selection, missing the places by one, this may be easier and Tom Marquand stick with him, a jockey who does get plenty for Ed Walker.

Our runner has a 1-2-3 to his name from three runs, pulling clear with a previous winner last time on heavy, his 2nd before that on firm reads well, the winner having beat Angel Hunter – an overlooked festival winner.

Light Speed 4/1 four places – 16.55 Beverley

Zapphire is the most obvious horse of the day if looking for something to place. Nosed off two times in a row, including when last here – she had her momentum checked which was the only thing that cost her the win. She is still well-treated and could get it done.

Light Speed is up 4lbs for a win last time at Chester. She sliced through the field after a hold-up run and kicked on nicely at the finish. I am hoping she can take the extra furlong at a stiff track in her stride with similar tactics hopefully allowing her to pass by them all. She won over further as a 3yo for Andrew Balding.

Zozimous has had nice wins at similarly stiff tracks recently but I am hoping he's on the come down. Arkenstaar chased him home and is better off at the weights, I would have perhaps risked him at the prices but given Zapphire couldn't be overlooked for two horses, I'll risk Gemmy Tutty having a big day.

Tailorman 6/1 – 17.35 Chester

Tailorman will find this trickier to win but Ian Williams reaches for tried and tested 7lb apprentice Ryan Kavanagh to offset the penalty, putting the horse 2lbs below that win.

This is two steps up in class, given he was beating my selection Spanktik just 4 days ago, who came into that race off an 8/8 at 33/1, it perhaps might prove too soon but on paper, his place claims are convincing enough.

Our form also ties in with Sea Grey, we went down over C&D by a head, we get 1lb and I thought if his effort is given, he can hit the frame carrying a light weight.

WHAT IS A LUCKY 15 BET?

A Lucky 15 bet consists of 15 unique bets, covering every possible combination that comes from backing four selections. The 15 bets are broken down like this:

– 1 fourfold accumulator

– 4 trebles, with each treble omitting one of your selections

– 6 doubles, again covering every possible combination

– 4 singles

The attraction of a Lucky 15 is that it offers many more ways to win than a standard accumulator. A Lucky 15 uses both your acca and your singles as well as producing trebles and doubles that reward you for correctly calling 2/4 or 3/4 of your selections. To cover the 15 separate bets, a Lucky 15 uses your stake 15 times. If you were to place £1 on a Lucky 15, you would be staking £15 in total across the various bets.
