Kessler to beat Haddad Maia @ 2/1
Haddid Maia began her tournament with three successive straight set wins over Golubic, Busca and Burel. She followed that up by beating Siniakova in three sets in the semi-final.
Kessler had a tougher route to the final: she had to play back-to-back three-setters against Scott and Wang. Thereafter, she beat Rus in straight sets before prevailing over Potapova in three sets in the semi-final.
Kessler has won 49 of 75 matches over the last year while Haddad Maia has won only 33 of 58 matches played. That said, Kessler's matches have been in Challenger tournaments while Haddad Maia has played primarily on the main tour.
Haddad Maia's best surface has been clay, while Kessler usually plays her best on hard courts. And that could be key in the final between the two women.
