Player Form: Both Patchy
Admittedly, both Djokovic and Rune have had patchy seasons – and Wimbledons – so far this year.
For Djokovic, he has underwhelmed after winning virtually everything in 2023. The Serbian is yet to make a final, let alone win a title in 2024. However, after a miraculous recovery from knee surgery a month ago, he’s building nicely here in London.
Djokovic’s form has been far from convincing, but he’s doing what he needs to to get through the early rounds of Wimbledon. So far he’s dropped two sets, one each to Jacob Fearnley and Alexei Popyrin in his past two matches.
Rune, on the other hand, came to Wimbledon with a record of 22-13 for the season. He’s improved that by winning his first three matches, but only just. Last round, he fell behind by two sets to love against France’s Quentin Halys, only to come back a win in five for the first time in his career.
