Monday’s Football Tips: Albania out to deliver a knockout blow to one of Group B’s big boys

ALBANIA were written off as no-hopers when the Euro 2024 draw was made and they ended up in the same group as Spain, Croatia and Italy.

But they head into their final game with the Spaniards still in with a chance of reaching the last 16 thanks to a dramatic stoppage-time winner in their 2-2 draw with the Croats.

A win would be enough to book their place in the last 16 and they have a chance against a Spanish side who are already guaranteed top spot in the group after winning their first two games.

Luis de la Fuente's men were seen as dark horses heading into the finals and they've arguably been the most impressive side so far, with a vibrant young forward line catching the eye.

The Spain coach will probably give some fringe players a chance to shine tonight and that will give Albania further optimism as they bid to spring another shock.

Although Albania need to go for the win and Spain have nothing to play for, I'd still imagine De la Fuente's side will have most of the possession.

I thought Croatia's ageing squad might struggle in a tough group but still expected them to beat Albania and sneak into the last 16 as one of the best third-placed teams.

But the late leveller they conceded to the Albanians has left them needing a victory over Italy tonight to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive.

The Azzurri's opening win over Albania looks like being enough to take them through regardless of how things pan out tonight but they'll still want to secure the point that seals second place.

That makes me think this one could be cagey and the half-time draw appeals at 11/10, while under 2.5 goals pays just 4/5.

With Croatia needing to go for the win, I fancy them for most corners and that bet also pays 11/10.

Colombia vs Paraguay Top Tips

Armchair fans who are pining for the days when they had three Euro 2024 games to watch in one day can take some consolation from the fact the Copa America is up and running to fill the void.

Colombia's clash with Paraguay kicks off just over an hour after the action in Germany finishes for the night and it should be a decent watch.

The Colombians are dark horses for glory this summer and warmed up for the finals by smashing five past host nation America in a friendly.

But they could find Paraguay a tougher nut to crack with their opponents having conceded just three times in six World Cup qualifiers so far.

That makes the half-time draw appealing again at 21/20 while a Colombian win with under 3.5 goals pays 11/10.
