Wannabe Brave landed us another winning selection on Thursday at advised odds of 3/1.
He traveled like the winner the entire race, he sat just off the pace setters and when they went around the bend, it was pretty much game over as Oisin pushed him out to win nicely by a length and a half in the end. Unfortunately, my other selection Loyal Touch was beat on the line and denied us the double.
Friday marks the start of some top-notch flat racing from Epsom. I've three selections for tomorrow that all come from Epsom and fingers crossed we can find another winner.
Zoum Zoum 9/4 – Epsom 5:10
I tipped Zoum Zoum on the thread last month and he let me down on that occasion. He still ran with credit on that occasion and I think he holds strong claims in this contest to make it four wins from five outings for trainer Ralph Beckett.
My selections win streak ended last month as he was beaten for the first time in the Greenham Stakes at Newbury. Zoum Zoum finished in a dead heat for second on that occasion, finishing just over a length behind the eventual winner Esquire. Esquire competed in a group two at Haydock last weekend, which saw him finish six of seven. That was a tough race and even the short-priced favourite Vandeek was turned over on that occasion.
Zoum Zoum is a horse who appreciates a bit of cut in the ground with two of his wins coming on heavy ground and the other which was on the all-weather at Kempton. Current ground at Epsom is forecast as good to soft however there is forecast rain this evening and tomorrow so I'm hoping it goes more towards the soft side of things. This contest also represents a drop from group company to listed which should also aid his chances of returning to winning ways.
Rossa Ryan replaces Rob Hornby who rode Zoum Zoum in her four races to date.
Hamish ( Betting Without Emily Upjohn ) 4/1 – Epsom 3:10
This is another case of hoping the rain comes but I will take the risk that it does and throw Hamish up as a selection.
The opening price of 20s is long gone on Hamish, however, I thought the 4/1 that's available with most firms (betting without Emily Upjohn) was a decent play in this contest.
There is no doubt that Emily Upjohn is the best horse in this race, but given she is unraced on soft ground, I opted to stay clear of laying her as a bet, especially at 6/5 which seems very short given what I've just mentioned.
Hamish comes here as an eight-year-old, so he may be vulnerable to some of the youngsters but he's a machine on soft ground and is bang in form having won his last five on the bounce in group company. Hamish has stamina in the locker having won races up to 1m6 during his career which I think will be a huge asset in this contest, especially if the rain comes and the ground becomes testing.
Luxembourg is an interesting runner, he's a class act on his day but has failed to shine in recent times and is better over 1m2f in my opinion. I expect him to go forward under Ryan Moore, which I'm hoping will set the race up for those traveling in behind.

Would LOVR Hamish to win a G1 as he’s won me and others im sure plenty when everyone keeps thinking maybe “this race a step to far” etc or for the old boy or along they lines, only for him to prevail and I hope I’m wrong today thinking it’s definitely to much an ask although as Cairnzy says ground is vital.
