Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the full card in MLS in the early hours of Sunday morning, and I’ve highlighted one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

Two clubs at the wrong end of the Western Conference table meet at Providence Park in the early hours of Sunday morning as 11th-placed Portland Timbers play host to 13th-placed Sporting KC in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Phil Neville’s hosts are the third-highest scorers in MLS, slamming in 26 goals across their opening 14 matches, with 14 (54%) of them coming on home soil.
The Timbers have found the back of the net in 12 (86%) of their league contests – notching on multiple occasions in nine (64%) of them – and will be confident of maintaining their 100% goals-scoring record in front of their supporters this campaign against a Sporting KC defence that has recorded a solitary shutout this season, shipping multiple goals in six of their last seven.
Peter Vermes’ visitors have scored 21 goals across their opening 13 matches in MLS this term, seven (33%) of them coming on their travels.
SKC have found the back of the net in all bar two of their MLS contests – notching on multiple occasions in seven of their last 10 – and will be confident of preaching a Timbers defence yet to register a clean sheet this campaign, shipping at least two goals in each of their previous 10.

The Timbers’ opening 14 MLS fixtures have been full of goals this campaign, averaging 3.93 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 12 (86%) of them and Over 3.5 in nine (64%) of them, including in 5/6 (83%) of them at home.
Over 2.5 Goals has landed in nine of SKC’s previous 10 MLS contests with six (60%) of them producing four or more goals, including a 3-3 draw when the pair last met in Kansas at the beginning of last month.
Therefore, I’m happy to back the Over 3.0 Asian goal. This would mean if there are exactly three goals scored, we will receive our stake back, whilst four or more strikes will reward a full payout.
