IT'S going to be emotional at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp brings down the curtain on his time as Liverpool manager with a Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
For a long time this season it looked like Klopp might sign off on the ultimate high, with the Reds in the hunt for four trophies. But it has all unravelled in recent weeks and the only piece of silverware in the trophy cabinet will be the League Cup.
The reason for that was summed up on Monday night as more dodgy defending allowed Aston Villa to salvage a 3-3 draw on a night when a few of my bets landed.
But Liverpool will be determined to send their gaffer off with a victory at home and a Wolverhampton Wanderers side on a run of just one win in 10 games are unlikely to spoil the party.
How the bookies view it: Reds hot favourites
With Wolves in such dismal form it's no surprise to see them as 14/1 outsiders with Bet365. Liverpool are just 2/11 and the draw pays 6/1.
Recent head to head: Liverpool ruling the roost
Klopp's side have dominated this fixture in recent years, winning 10 of the last 12 meetings. Wolverhampton Wanderers also have a poor record at Anfield, with their last win there coming in the FA Cup back in 2017.
Players to watch: Gakpo finishing with a flourish
Cody Gakpo has started the last five games for Liverpool and is finishing the season well, with goals in his last two outings. The Dutchman is 6/5 for anytime scorer on Klopp's farewell.
Fit-again Matheus Cunha will fancy his chances against Klopp's leaky defence. The Brazilian has 14 goals for the season and looks overpriced at 3/1 to add to that tally.
Probable line-ups
Liverpool are almost at full strength, with only Diogo Jota missing from their regular starters. Wolves' injury crisis is also over now and the only star missing is winger Pedro Neto.
Liverpool: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Quansah, Van Dijk, Roberston, Endo, Mac Allister, Elliott, Salah, Gakpo, Diaz
Wolves: Sa; Ait-Nouri, Kilman, Toti; Semedo, Bellegarde, Gomes, Lemina, Doyle; Cunha; Hwang
Anything else catch the eye: One final thriller for Klopp
Backing goals paid off for me in Wolves' last game against Crystal Palace and there should be more thrills for Klopp's last hurrah at Anfield. Combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals only pays 5/6 at Bet365 but over 3.5 Liverpool goals looks good at 5/4. A strike in the first 10 minutes also appeals at 12/5.
This game should be paid in a carnival spirit so I'd be surprised if we saw a lot of cards. But players always have a competitive spirit so it could pay to back both teams for a card at evens, given the odds for that bet are usually far shorter.
Trent Alexander Arnold is always a threat going forward and the full-back looks good at 5/4 for a shot on target.
