Monday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Irish top flight, and one of two fixtures in particular stands out to me for goals.

Two sides separated by just two places and three points in the Irish Premier Division table meet at Oriel Park tomorrow evening as 5th-placed Dundalk host 3rd-placed St Patrick’s in a fixture that really appeals to me for goals.
Stephen O'Donnell’s hosts are the third-highest scorers in the Irish top-flight this term scoring 33 goals, with 22 of those coming on home soil. The Lilywhites have only failed to score at home to league leaders Shamrock Rovers in the league so far this season – striking on multiple occasions in 7/10 (70%) of them – and will look to breach a St Pat’s defence that’s registered a solitary clean sheet across their 11 league outings on the road, conceding 22 goals.
Jon Daly’s visitors are the second-highest scorers in the Irish Premier Division this campaign, scoring 38 goals, with exactly half of those coming on their travels. The Saints have made the net bulge in nine of their previous 10 road trips in the league – scoring two or more in six (60%) of them – and will look to trouble a Dundalk defence that’s registered a solitary clean across their 10 league fixtures in front of their supporters this campaign, conceding on 16 occasions.

Over 2.5 Goals has banked in each of Dundalk’s previous nine Irish Premier Division fixtures in front of their supporters – and given the same has landed in 9/11 (82%) of St Pat’s league assignments on the road – I reckon there’s a strong chance we’ll see a minimum of three strikes for the third consecutive meeting this season between these two high-scoring sides.
