Concetto put in another good round of jumping to give us a winning selection on Wednesday. He is now 2/2 over fences, and based on yesterday, he'll be out soon and will be able to win a few more before the handicapper catches up with him.
Today's racing looks fairly poor again, not much caught the eye, I've gone for two selections that are decent enough prices.
Ludlow 2:25 – Ucanaver 11/2 (1pt)
UCANAVER has to prove she stays this 3m trip, she has been racing over much shorter and has her best results over 2m, so it's always a risk going for a horse with the type of profile, especially when their pedigree doesn't give you major signs that they will stay, but I think she is worth a try.
Anthony Honeyball is enjoying a purple patch. He started the season off slow, but over the last month or so he has been racking up the winner and his horses have been running well in defeat as well. The fact he believes this trip is worth a go is interesting to me. She has been tried over it once before, but that was in a chase where she Unseated early on, so you can't really use that as a guide, but he has pulled her out of races over 2m 5f on two occasions due to unsuitable ground, but it looks like he's been very keen to get her over a longer trip for some time, so they must believe she is capable of staying the trip and winning.
Sean O'Briain takes the ride and takes off a handy 7lbs. He recently had a winner for the Honeyball stable at Fontwell earlier this week and does seem good value for his claim.
Taunton 3:25 – The Bold Thady 11/2 (1pt)
This horse is also at a price that could be seen as an ew play, if short price ew is your kind of thing, but not for me for this horse anyway. I've been tracking THE BOLD THADY for a fair few months now, and I've been praying that Neil Mulholland would bring him back in trip to 2m 4f, as I honestly believe he's on a good handicap mark and a drop in trip would be perfect for him.
However, Neil obviously knows a lot more about horses than I do and is sticking to 3m. He is such a strong traveller through his races but doesn't quite seem to stay the trip, convincingly anyway. He did the same last time at Exeter, but he might've bumped into one that day as he did pull clear of the third. I am giving him a try over this trip, as I think this track might allow him to see it out, with it being quite tight and it should play to his cruising speed.
I tipped up Mullinaree when he ran at Sedgefield the other day. He did run on quite well, but he is a keen goer and I worry that he won't see the trip out, plus his jumping lto was atrocious. He is definitely worth taking on.

Probably just a few on the nose myself and a R/forecast as it’s a muddling race as they say.
His form on last 2 run beats most. D.K s Dream at 11/2 looks decent as unexposed one or at least compared to the others with a good second to Spendaholic who’s won well for me last 2 runs so basing form around that run.

Not great as Rizzle says but more tougher to figure out I’d say with a lot running not so long ago and against horses out again today or recently.
Was on the Flying Nun last run when it won around same price as today 5/1.
Rizzle fancies Uncaver and looks more open and certainly tougher so few pounds on an even cash on the R/fc for me.
Much the same with Mullinaree in 3.25 although he was ran down late and made an @rse of last few jumps and goes up a bit in distance I see?
Not sure about that but others think it’s a good thing and I’ll trust in there jumps knowledge

Andrea Atzeni sits at the top table of flat racing in the UK. With the 14:35 in running, that leaves him with two, OBSIDIAN KNIGHT, a lto winner with decent looking form, who has won with Atzeni on before. It’s a two horse race at the prices and hopefully for us ZEALOT, a horse I’ve followed closely, starts to slow down given another rise in the weights in this ‘better’ race.
THE GATEKEEPER is his other ride, a EW price for Charlie Johnston, they shared a nice winner a week ago and since I was on, will be backing blind. A massive lay off, which little to show for it, carrying top weight means we keep the bet size to something trivial.
