Chelsea vs Bournemouth

, KO: 17:30 Dec 27, 2022, Stamford Bridge
Bournemouth

GRAHAM POTTER'S Chelsea revolution has not exactly caught fire so far since his arrival from Brighton and his injury-ravaged team welcome Bournemouth as they resume their league campaign.

Chelsea were on a nightmare run of form before the World Cup break – they lost their last three games and four out of five in all competitions including three in a row in the league.

It saw them plummet down to eighth place in the table and with their notoriously impatient owners, it's hardly a position Potter would want to be in.

He's not exactly helped with an enormous list of unavailable players for this encounter. Mateo Kovacic and Hakim Ziyech were World Cup semi-finalists so are unlikely to feature and there are injuries to Wesley Fofana, N'Golo Kante, Armando Broja, Carney Chukwuemeka, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ben Chilwell and Kepa Arrizabalaga, with only Reece James expected to return on Tuesday.

Bournemouth were on a desperate run themselves after four league losses in a row, but they at least showed signs of recovery before the break with a double success over Everton in the league and Carabao Cup, before a narrow loss to Newcastle United eliminated them last week.

How the bookies view it

Despite their form and injuries, Chelsea are still huge favourites here at 1/3 with bet365. Bournemouth can be backed at 9/1 with BetVictor and the draw is 9/2 with UniBet.

Recent head to heads

Bournemouth have been a thorn in the side of Chelsearecently – the Cherries have won two out of the last three meetings between the sides and drawn the other one.

Players to watch

Conor Gallagher was a surprise inclusion in England's World Cup squad, but failed to play a single minute in Qatar. He'll be desperate for game time and is 16/5 with Paddy Power to score on Tuesday night.

Kieffer Moore certainly did play at the World Cup for Wales and also netted in his last league game before the tournament in their 3-0 win over Everton. He is 5/1 to score anytime with bet365.

Anything else catch the eye?

It's hard to back Chelsea with any confidence even if they were closer to evens, let alone 1/3. They have also failed to score in their three games in all competitions.

With Bournemouth improving before the break, they could be worth backing here on the double chance of a draw or a win at 23/10 with Paddy Power.

Five of Chelsea's last six league games has seen it go under 2.5 goals and with their lack of goals scored too recently, the 24/19 with 10Bet looks an attractive shout.
