MALKY MACKAY’S methods are starting to pay off at Ross County and the Staggies will fancy their chances when Dundee United come calling today.
A battling 1-0 win over Hibs in midweek has left the Staggies just a point behind Dundee at the foot of the Premiership.
So they could jump off the bottom if they beat United today and the other half of Dundee fail to defeat Motherwell at Dens Park.
County are 17/10 with McBookie for the win which looks decent value, given their last three games were a 5-0 triumph at Dens, a 4-2 loss at Ibrox and that victory over Hibs.
I tipped a thriller in that midweek clash after County’s last four games all saw five strikes or more but we ended up seeing more red cards than goals as the Hibees finished with nine men.
It ended just 1-0 when the Staggies lost at Tannadice earlier this season so that suggests this one could also be tight.
A one-goal winning margin for either side pays 5/4 at McBookie while the half-time draw also appeals at 27/25
with Unibet.
We saw 12 corners when these sides met at Tannadice and that means over 10.5 corners stands a chance today at evens with Bet365.
Dundee and Motherwell have both been inconsistent this season and that makes their clash at Dens a hard one to call.
The last two meetings have both ended 1-0, with a win apiece, so I’m betting against BTTS at 42/41 with SBK.
The Dark Blues won most corners when these sides faced off at Fir Park so backing a repeat might pay off here at evens with Bet365.
It looked like Hibs had ended their slump when they shocked Rangers in the League Cup semi-final last weekend.
But Jack Ross’ men followed that up by crashing in Dingwall and have now suffered five successive Premiership defeats.
They have a tough gig today with a trip to Perth in a repeat of last season’s Scottish Cup Final.
St Johnstone won that showpiece by a single goal and it should be tight again today, especially with Hibs missing talisman Martin Boyle due to suspension after his Dingwall red.
Another one-goal winning margin appeals in this one at 5/4 with McBookie as that bet has landed in the last four meetings.
The odds on under 2.5 goals aren’t great at a best 3/5 with BetVictor but betting against BTTS is a bit better at 20/23 with BetVictor.
Hibs have won the most corners in their last four clashes with Saints so that bet looks a good option today at 5/4 with SkyBet.
There should be more goals when Hearts host St Mirren and it’s a game both teams need to win after a poor run of results.
BTTS came up when the Jambos won 2-1 in Paisley earlier this term so I fancy a repeat at Tynecastle, which pays 49/50 at Unibet.
Liam Boyce should start after making his comeback off the bench last weekend and appeals at 17/10 with Paddy Power for a goal.
Rangers impressed in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first game as boss as they beat Sparta Prague 2-0 to book a place in the Europa League knockouts.
But a trip to Livingston’s plastic pitch will be a culture shock tomorrow and Gers could find it hard to break down the Lions as David Martindale parks the bus. Under 2.5 goals looks the shout and it pays evens with McBookie.
Rangers haven’t been keeping many clean sheets but they shut out Sparta on Thursday and Livi have drawn a blank in their last nine games against the Ibrox men. That makes a Gers shut-out appealing at 17/20 with McBookie.
Celtic host Aberdeen and will need to recover from the blow of shipping two late goals to crash 3-2 at Leverkusen.
The Dons have been dismal in defence this term so I fancy a few goals tomorrow as well.
Over 1.5 first-half goals came up for me in Germany and I’m on that again for this game at 6/4 with Bet365. Backing the Hoops to score in each half also appeals at evens with McBookie.
