The only bet of yesterday was extremely poor, and I'm not quite sure why she was that bad. She was keen in the early stages, but I think that's too bad of a run to blame solely on her being keen. Either way, just the one selection on the day, so the loss was minimal. Today there is only one selection, as even though there is a lot of racing for a Thursday, nothing else caught my eye.

Haydock 3:45

On my first look at this race I instantly thought it would be a walk in the park for Al Suhail, but after thinking about it, this could be perfectly set up for AZANO.

David O'Meara's 5yo loves to race from the front with enthusiasm, so the fact there is only two other horses in the race, he should be able to dictate this race at his own pleasure. The other two horses aren't notoriously known for being up with the pace, and considering both jockeys know Azano is a front runner, they will let him crack on with it. Off official ratings, you'd have to give Azano little to no chance of winning this as he is 9lbs worse off at the weights with the fav, but I'm not sure this trip will suit him. Charlie Applebly dropped him in trip last time at Newbury, where he went off favourite. He was very underwhelming that day, and it looked like he wasn't suited by the drop in trip, so I think it could be well worth challenging him in a race which Azano will get the run of the race and could be hard to pass.

Haydock is known for being a track which favours front runners, which is another reason to believe that Azano will be best treated in this race. I listened to an interview with Oisin Murphy a couple of weeks ago and he said that Haydock is best for front runners, especially on fast ground, and miraculously we have fast ground at Haydock which never seems to happen.

I do think this will be between Al Suhail and Azano, as Accidental Agent is also another horse who would be better suited over slightly further, but also he has to shoulder a 4lb penalty, which could be a tough ask. He is also a horse who likes to be held up at the rear of the field, which means he would have to cover a lot of ground if he was to get to Azano who will more than likely be a good amount of lengths in front, as he doesn't like to hang around.

Night off I last night but Yankee on Tuesday ended up a Trixie due to an NR. Both singles landed though and wee double obviously for the Trixie.

    Yankee and 2x singles…

Thistledown-R4…High Fire. 10/3(*** won nicely after having to travel very wide finishing with a good turn of foot in the straight. C&D last time and same jockey)
    R7…Amadevil. 7/4
Beltarra-R8…Pao De Quijo 6/4 (***** gets a good drop in class after missing out on a hat trick after 2 very nice wins)
    Saratoga -R9…Expand The Map. 13/8

    GL all today
