FLYING MOON (1.40) is on a roll for local trainer Mike Smith and is fancied to complete a hat-trick in the mile handicap at Ayr.
The four-year-old carries a 5lb penalty after scoring with some authority at Hamilton ten days ago and is just preferred to another penalised opponent, Perfect Swiss, a Pontefract scorer three days ago.
Smith saddles GRANITE CITY DOC (1.05) in the 1m 2f handicap, with cheekpieces applied after a close second to Baryshnikov over course and distance. Howzer Black was back in third and is held on the form book. Keith Dalgleish also sends out recent Hamilton winner Breguet Boy with an obvious chance, while Jim Goldie’s Ayr Poet will appreciate this return to a longer trip after looking one-paced over a mile at Hamilton last time.
KODIMOOR (2.40) backed up placed efforts at Beverley and Pontefract with a good second to Ugo Gregory over course and distance at the end of last month and could be up to winning an ordinary 7f handicap. Strong Steps has been in the wilderness since winning here last September but hinted at a return to form when fifth here last time. Sienna Dream has been most consistent for Alistair Whillans but is 10lb higher than when scoring over course and distance last October.
