I’M BACK in the game and raring to go after some paternity time off.
Have a listen to the podcast where I give a bit more background and explanation for my selections for Friday which are as follows:
1.15pm – Palace of Holyroodhouse Handicap
I like both KEEP BUSY and BAND PRACTICE in the opener which is live on Sky Sports Racing prior to the ITV coverage. The former is a consistent sort with plenty of experience who will enjoy the surface and the drop back into a handicap with young Ciaran Fallon on board is a big eye catcher. Band Practice is a more speculative shout at a big price. Her run in the Breeders Cup didn’t work out – perhaps due to the firm ground – but these are calmer waters and although she needs to give weight away to the rest she looks too big a price for me judged on her 3 wins last season in various ground conditions.
1.50pm – Albany Stakes
My each way pick in this is MAHALE who was only 4th on her debut at Newmarket but that form has been franked significantly after the 6th and 7th horses both won subsequently and she will improve for the step up to 6 furlongs after running quite green on debut.
2.25pm – Norfolk Stakes
In a competitive race my value selection is JO JO RABBIT who won nicely at Wolverhampton and can go well for the in-form Archie Watson and Hollie Doyle combo.
3.00pm – Hardwicke Stakes
ELARQAM is the selection for me after some toing and froing. Ultimately the piece of form with Lord Notth last time out cannot he ignored after Lord North came out and smashed up the Prince of Wales Stakes on Wednesday. If his price drifts to 13/2 or 7/1 I also think that Morando rates as a solid each way alternative for anyone looking for a bit of a bigger price.
3.35pm – Commonwealth Cup
MILLISLE was tried at a mile in the 1,000 Guineas and it just didn’t work because she didn’t stay the extra two furlongs. If she hadn’t tried that she would be half her price here and looks a cracking each way value bet to me.
4.40pm – Duke of Edinburgh Handicap
In the lucky last I am keen on GOOD BIRTHDAY for Andrew Balding and ridden by Silvestre De Sousa. He didn’t do himself any favours on seasonal debut last time out but still finished 3rd in a decent race. If he settles better today with that race under his belt he will go really close off the same handicap mark. The ground should also be more in his favour today.
Don’t forget to shop around and get the best prices and extra each way places in all of these races – they can make a big difference.
What’s your bet on this 1:15 kick off, keep busy race cos is confusing @value’s
welcome back Mate !!
Cheers
