Top Football Tips

IT was a glory night for the Old Firm as they took giant strides in the Europa League with fine victories.

Celtic went to Lazio as 9-2 shots but returned after making club history as the first team to win in Italy.

The result meant Neil Lennon's side qualified for the group stages with two games to go and that's some feat.

Rangers followed up with a tremendous 2-0 defeat of Porto with Alfredo Morelos again scoring first with a sublime strike. I tipped him and Ciro Immobile to score but the Super Single was Rangers draw no bet that won at evens.

It was Celtic who beat my Top Treble – I tipped them to score but never expected a victory and while they played well it was two pretty bad defensive mistakes that handed them the goals.

Man United and Wolves also won so a nice full house for the Brits in Europe.

Well done to all the winners on Thursday and there were some crackers. Scott came up trumps with his members bet and SlipsTips had a full house of winners on his Lazio v Celtic preview. David@footystats had a nice 8-1 winner on Rangers to win to nil and Morelos to score and jos put up the best acca of the night and landed a huge return.

As usual my focus at this time of the week is on Saturday's card and I've posted a Super Single shortlist.

Tonight Norwich entertain Watford in the Premier League while in Scotland we have a Dundee v Dundee United derby and that should be action-packed. Dundee will be out to avenge a 6-2 defeat they suffered at Tannadice and there should be plenty of goals again.

Other games to consider are Real Sociedad v Leganes, Sassuolo v Bologna, Cologne v Hoffenheim and Nice v Bordeaux as well as lower-league games in the likes of Holland and France.

I've picked out a treble and apologise for lack of reasoning but I've got to finish my Record pages then start the night shift.

2pts Top Treble

  • Dundee v Dundee Utd btts (7.45pm)
  • Hoffenheim draw no bet (7.30pm)
  • Norwich not to lose (8pm)
  • (4-1, Coral)

Fair play to both old firm tonight, amazing results in Europe especially Celtic, took us until 2006 to win in Italy so fair play to Celtic to finally winning in Italy for the first time, especially against a good lazio side, coefficient should go up and every chance despite both being underdogs in the groups from the start that hopefully both rangers and Celtic make the knockout rounds ??

    Dundee game:
    Both teams to score 4/5

    Small stakes:
Both teams to score in each half 14/1

One game in the EPL jumping out on Saturday 5.30 KICK OFF
    Leicester City v Arsenal
Leicester City to win at 1/1*****(NAP)
Leicester City to win -1.5 asian handicap at 3.450
Two teams at the present time that are worlds apart, you have Leicester City that are well organised and devastating on the counter attack and very difficult to beat, and you have an Arsenal team that quite frankly aren’t good enough to win at the King Power stadium.Arsenal are simply to unpredictable and their defence won’t hold out here that’s for sure. The visitors played Europa League on weds night which again they blew a lead where as Leicester have had a week off.For me a comfortable home win and they could be challenging come the end of the season.
    Correct score 4-1

just because he’s 32 i wouldn’t say that Vardy would never play for England again if he scores 20-30 goals this season he could easily be heading on the plane to euro 2020 next summer

Having played in the lower leagues for fleetwood then playing in the premier league it was a great thing for Vardy just being called up for England, but the novelty soon wore off when certain spurs players wouldn’t pass to him, and Kane always will be first choice now.

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 5 years ago

Surprised Zlatan never came out of retirement for Sweden, signing for Ac Milan at 38 crackers.

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 5 years ago

I don’t think Vardy was ever bothered about playing for England, what he has achieved is big in itself, from the lower leagues to winning the EPL and competing in the Champions League.Arsenal wanted him but Leicester doubled his wages and that was that.Stuff we all dreamed of as youngsters.

    • Avatar of Jamieinga
      Jamieinga 5 years ago

Rodgers came to Leicester for a good reason, already had a squad of young talent, he’s only made one new signing in Perez, didn’t really have to do anything else, other take away some insecurities in some players, arsenal probably needs a few years to get right, going there would be a big risk for Rodgers,so I doubt very much he would jump ship, the owners are brilliant at Leicester and if we finish 6th this season everyone would be happy.

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 5 years ago

Agree Leicester were already well set up when Rodgers went there, trouble is with Rodger’s though when a big club comes in for him he tends to move on and if Arsenal do come knocking it would be hard for him to say no,i think Leicester will finish in the top four they look strong and have the defence to do so,looking at Spurs,Man Utd and Arsenal it’s hard to see them making the cut.

    • Avatar of Jamieinga
      Jamieinga 5 years ago

Rodgers is a good manager but it’s the players that he has, nobody is irreplaceable, and if he did go someone else comes in, will say this though at the end of last season and the start of this season he was playing 2 holding midfielders in ndidi and hamza, wasn’t working, Vardy was isolated, then he changed it, Maddison was dropped deaper in midfield and Barnes came back in the team, Vardy always scores when Barnes plays, theilemans is now playing great again, so if Rodgers is as good as people like to think why was he playing 2 holding midfielders when it clearly doesn’t work.

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 5 years ago

I’m not saying Rodgers is good,if he were good the Liverpool would of won the EPL when he was in charge,it was down to Suarez that challenging year, tactically he was useless as our defence was leaking goals left right and centre, but he took the plaudits and that’s what made his name.

    • Avatar of Mr Fixit
      Mr Fixit 5 years ago

To be fair to Rodgers he’s done all right since and I’m sure he’ll get a bigger job than Leicester if keeps doing well there.

Liverpool didn’t win the league cus they bottled it, like they did last season against Leicester 1-1 , they could of gone 9 points clear I think, the crowd were very anxious when they were 1-0 up and couldn’t get the second goal, the negative energy got to the players, when Leicester won the league we never got like that, we enjoyed ever game.

    • Avatar of Johan14

Think Vardy got fed up with sitting on a plane for several hours only to end up sitting on the bench for several more hours. Can’t blame him.

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 5 years ago

No disrespect mate but Leicester City had nothing to lose,no expectations, they are a small club.At Liverpool titles and Champions Leagues are expected so it weighs a lot more on the players.Last season Liverpool only lost one game and amassed a lot of points so how you can say they bottled it is beyond me.

    • Avatar of Jamieinga
      Jamieinga 5 years ago

Leicester are in top 15 richest clubs in Europe, so they are not a small club at all, small clubs don’t invest in a training centre for 100milion and win a premier league title, Liverpool are a bigger club but that doesn’t mean every other club is small,

    • Avatar of mark edley
      maccathered 5 years ago

Leicester City are a small club with rich owners, having rich owners doesn’t make you a big club.Man City are a small club with rich owners,by the term small i mean they don’t have a big fan base,Liverpool can sell out a premier league game 3 times over and that’s why they are expanding their stadium again.

    • Avatar of Jamieinga
      Jamieinga 5 years ago

It’s based on turnover, the club is rich, the owners wealth has nothing to do with the club,it’s a business, it makes money that’s why they are top 15 richest clubs, I could be a millionaire and run a business that’s not making any money, the business folds, Financial fair play in football proves if a club is rich, owners can’t spend more than what comes in, you need to stop thinking Leicester are a small club, you haven’t won the league in years and you arrogant attitude makes me laugh.

Big night for United tonight. Got the chance to really extend the gap over Dundee and make a statement about winning the league this year. Here’s my thoughts

United will play as normal with a lot of fast attacking football so don’t expect much change there

I’m wondering if McPake has the balls to do the same in order to cause United a headache and get revenge for the 6-2 mauling a couple months back or if he will sit tight and try to hit United on the counter

If it’s the latter then goals could be in short supply.

I’m confident of a United win regardless of how McPake sets his side up and I’m tempted to go for a wincast or Shankland to score & United to win @ 9/4 (PaddyPower)

If Dundee are to try and take the game at United then BTTS & Over 2.5 @ 6/5 (Bet365) and Dundee United to win & over 1.5 @ 21/10 (Coral) and evening United to win and over 2.5 @ 14/5 (Coral)

Don’t get me wrong, Dundee are coming into good form and will fancy their chances. But this a derby and form doesn’t always mean anything. United will be up for it and have the experience and mental strength to see it through

I’ll post my tips on the game just after lunch

Nice one gg1a. Agree with you about Dundee being the better team in first 15, started the game well and had a goal incorrectly disallowed too. Their problems lies with their defence as they’re very shaky at the back and their bottle goes. Should be a good game, agree that we could see bookings tonight

@Chip96 – as a fellow United fan, Shed Rule!

Butcher will be very key tonight. Last time out he nailed one of the Dee midfielders in first ten minutes to set the tempo.

Robbie has to go 4-4-2 with butcher back in the midfield tonight. Hillies 8/5 butcher booking is very tempting as he loves a tackle.

For Dundee, cammy Kerr looks huge at 11/4 as once he gets going, he can get fired up!

Let me know your thoughts on the card markets?

For cards I think Kerr is a great shout, my mate Jamie Robson will be right up for it tonight as well can see him getting carried away if he starts. He’s 13/8 with Sky

    Vitesse are the MutzzNutz today

I’ll be going for Vitesse to score 2 or more as main bet for 12 pts
Also smaller stakes of 2 pts on Vitesse to score 3 or more and 1 pt on Vitesse to score 4 or more

Vitesse are having a terrific season on home turf. Have scored 2 or more in every game bar 1 this season and that includes games against stronger teams such as Ajax and Alkmaar

Add to that previous Head to Head record against Groningen where Vitesse have scored 3/5/2/2/5 in the last 5 games

Also agree with Greg and others about Dundee derby but they’ve covered that very well

Also found an interesting long shot acca for a Friday (when goals in certain teams/leagues are aplenty)

All games both to score and no draw – perm any 5 from 6 (6 bets in total)

    Koln v Hoffenheim
    Vitesse v Groningen
    Excelsior v Eindhovem
    Roda v Cambuur
    Wintherhur v Grasshopper

Been having a good think and reckon cards might be the way to go tonight. Both teams going to be right up for it and wanting to win. Perfect chance to United to extend the gap and for Dundee to close it

    Here are my bets:

BTTS, 3+ corners each team and 10+ booking points each team @ 6/4 (Skybet)

Dundee United to win & Nicky Clark to score @ 11/2 (PaddyPower)

Hemmings and Shankland to score & Kerr and Butcher to be carded @ 33/1 (Skybet)

Look for either Robson, Kerr, Butcher, McGowan and Connolly to get booked

    Good luck with your bets

Jumping back on the card wagon.
    Koln v hoffenheim
Over 4 Asian cards bet365 1.73. If exactly 4 cards money back. 5 or more is a winner.
Koln need points and are very ill disciplined in the bundesliga raking up nearly the most bookings in the league. Referee has only shown less than 4 cards on one occasion this season and this bodes well.

    Sunday EPL
    Liverpool v Man City
    Over 2.5 goals at 4/6
    Over 3.5 goals at 13/8*****(NAP)
    Over 4.5 goals at 7/2
    Over 5.5 goals at 8/1
The team news that i wanted to see for this game has now been made official,Ederson is out for Man City and Lovren will play for Liverpool.I like the prices on the wdw market and i do think the home side will win this match but in a game like this it’s not for certain and given the team news i am opting for goals. These two teams are by far the best teams in Europe at this moment in time and you would think it would be a tight affair as it was last time City visited Anfield but given the players mentioned i can’t see a 0-0 it’s just not logical,Fernandihno in defence for City and add Otamendi to that and it’s a disaster waiting to happen,no Edison which means playing out the back is going to be difficult and it’s hard enough to do that at Anfield as it is so there is going to be goals conceded there, add Lovren who will play for Liverpool and his uncertainty or lack of confidence will almost certainly provide City with chances then i see nothing but a high scoring game.
    Correct score 4-2

    Man Utd v Brighton
    Btts at 19/20
    Wolves v Villa
    Btts at 8/11
    Liverpool v Man City
    Btts at 1/2
    Treble at 4/1
    This should land.
    Best of luck

    Vitesse are the MutzzNutz today

I’ll be going for Vitesse to score 2 or more as main bet for 12 pts❌
Also smaller stakes of 2 pts on Vitesse to score 3 or more and 1 pt on Vitesse to score 4 or more❌❌

    Koln v Hoffenheim✅
    Vitesse v Groningen✅
    Excelsior v Eindhovem✅
    Roda v Cambuur✅
    Wintherhur v Grasshopper❌
    Dundee v Dundee Utd❌

I did it on WH shop terminal with a minimum of 50/1 for any 5 to come in but small stakes

    Good Luck Everyone

Vitesse had 34 yes 34 shots at goal and hit the bar whilst I watched it
You win some you lose some

1 goal off in both score/no draw and 2 goals from full house

    Well done to any winners

I’m pretty sure the majority on here know exactly who you (and your current pseudonyms) are so, a few points worth considering given you have chosen to carry on posting:

      1. You were caught bang to rights and need to redeem some face by apologising, or at least acknowledging, those from whom you stole personal intelligence.

      2. It’s well worth remembering that any cumulative text carries a DNA similar to a fingerprint – you can attempt to change it all you like but the syntax, punctuation, grammar and timings of posts will give you away every time.

      3. This site is a rare online community that actually ‘gives a f*ck’ about what is posted and also what posters are going through – it is moderated very well and very fairly, the fact that there is a following built over a number of years makes it different and is what makes it stand out from others.

I forget who it was, but there was a post mid-week that questioned the mental state of your continued posting campaign given the circumstances and, I have to agree, there’s no apology, no attempt to redeem yourself..
      just more poor subterfuge.

Mr f and admin can check whatever they wish to and will not find anything untoward with my account

I don’t come on the forum abusing anyone or rubbishing people’s tips like some other people do and just try to share my own thoughts with some background to it

Just want to address the minute silence before the game tonight. Not sure if it was United or Dundee fans but whoever it was it is absolutely disgusting

Heard that there was around 100 United fans outside at kick off and didn’t know what was going on inside the stadium but not sure what the script was as I wasn’t there myself

Regardless a minute silence is a minute silence and everyone should’ve that – silent
